I have opened 13 restaurants, including many Italian. Gambino's was fantastic. Our server Chelsea was one of the best I have ever had. Her personality was exactly what I look for in a full-service restaurant. The quantity of food was extreme, so plan on bringing home lots of leftovers!
Love, Love, Love ❤❤ their pizza and the garlic twist are a MUST!! Pizza and twist are cooked in wood fired oven. Fresh ingredients are used.
Staff is great and works efficiently during busy times especially if college have events going on. Hours have been a little different due to Covid but double check before going!
Fast and friendly service. Delicious food and drinks. What I love is they have drinks that made with local flavors like huckleberries. I almost got the huckleberry martini but decided on the blood orange one instead. It was so yummy! My husband got a Bloody Mary that came adorned with celery, prosciutto, and other things sprouting from the top in high fashion. The food was so satisfying. I got the thin crust with the mustard sauce topped with pepperoni, pineapple, and jalapeños. My husband got the Chicago style with mustard sauce and the combo with sauerkraut. We had plenty of left overs even with ordering the medium size.

Bruschetta chicken pasta was great and so was the triple meat pizza, but the rest of the pasta dishes missed the mark.
What a find! Gambino's, a few walkable blocks from U of I, is excellent. The fried pickles are perfect and the mozzarella sticks, which look rather like small tacos, are just as good! We had a good variety of dishes between the 5 of us and everyone loved their meal. On top of that, no one could finish, everyone had to take some home... a tremendous amount of really good food... What more can you ask for? Looking forward to the next visit!
The Zonker sandwich was really good. The pepperoni and onion calzone was the best I've had anywhere, including in Minneapolis, St. Paul, NYC, Miami, and Seattle. Amazing! Great service, fun atmosphere, and great prices. The only disappointment was the lentil soup - it's definitely changed.
Dinner was good, loved the waitress (Chelsea). She was funny, polite, prompt with the food order.
