Absolutely loved it. Had the chicken Jambusa with the green chutney. Also tasted the beef rice bowl and was great. Be adventurous and you'll be happy. Really cheap. I will be back.

We ate dinner here and it was so delicious! I knew it was going to be good based on how good it smelled when we first walked in. We had Jambo fries (fries with lamb and their sauce) and two bowls, one with coconut rice, Bianca sauce and chicken. The other bowl was African rice, lamb and their spicy sauce. I will definitely be going back!

Lots of food options including vegetarian and vegan. Very tasty and very healthy! Good location on bus line. Nice service with a reasonable wait for food. Free WiFi and outlets.
Seating is bar style and not tables though so it's very casual. And some of the menu is slightly ambiguous but the server was helpful.

Awesome place! Great food, amazing staff, and a great space. One of the things I love about Jambo is the art that is featured often.
Everything I have tried here has been good, but my fav thing is the wings. Super tasty! Oh, and do the Jambo fries. You won't be sorry!!!

While I ate lunch here I was already plotting my return. The seasonings! The tastes!! Gah, mouth watering as I write this. Even better- they are super community grounded. During Ramadan they set up a tent and heat lamps outside for late night dining. Super friendly people. Can’t wait to go back.

This is a great quick bite between classes since it's so close to the U of M. Delicious ethnic dishes and friendly staff!

Like many of the people that I talked to, I ignored this place for the past year because I assumed it was just a knock-off Afro Deli. I finally stopped in because there’s really no great food options on West Bank, and I loved t! The food is SO good and you get a TON for the price. They also use Pocket Points, and you can get a dollar off a sandwich, so I get the Haji a lot! There’s a bit of a wait for your food, so it’s not good it you’re in a rush, but it’s a nice place to sit for a bit to eat and quiet enough to get some homework done. I’d highly recommend it for any students frequently stuck on West Bank!

First time in, I had the Jambo bowl with African rice, steak, and Jambo sauce. Service was great, even though they were busy. However, I was expecting something... More in the bowl. Flavors were good, but there was almost no color to it. Throw in a little diced tomato, cilantro, or even a little kale and it would've been a very satisfying meal! If I could've "made it a meal" with a little salad instead of fries, that would be a good option too.

My goodness I think I found the coolest little modern African digs ever! I know I'm late to the party, but better late than never. I'm excited because I finally found an African joint in town I can take my wife to! Lol. Remember Tejas at 50th and France? Well it's like the East African version of Tejas, except at Cedar/Riverside. Yep, I couldn't believe it either.
The food is straight East African, just like my regular digs at Daily Cairo Grill on Franklin and Chicago. The difference is that because you're not going north Phillips, so you won't get nearly hit by cabs, or hit up to buy weed, or fear for getting shot. Nope. Clean, trendy, the place is lively with modern decor with bright colors, and playing Afro-pop in the background. Man you could even bring your mom!
I ordered the Jambo! Bowl with lamb, African rice, with Bisbaas sauce, which is the Somali pepper sauce. Of course there are non-spicy options such as Bianco, Jambo, and Mediterranean. I just prefer to sweat!
This place actually cares about presentation! In addition to the meat and rice, they put some nice veggies around to add some color and roughage. Hey we all need more of that right? Shredded carrots, pickled red cabbage, kale, and some pineapple. Nice touch. Ok so not hard core Somali, like straight up meat, rice, and iceberg "salad" with a wedge of lime. And no goat meat. But this is a WHOLE another experience compared to the other S Mpls African Deli's.
So the next time you want some African eats, do yourself, your wife, and your mom a favor and make a stop here! If it's nice you can even eat on the patio. Oh did I mention all-you-can-drink mango juice for $1.99? Yep that seals the deal.
