This was a surprisingly filling meal. I don't know if it was that we waited too long to eat after working out or the pierogis were just more hearty than expected. They were tasty. Beautifully cooked. You know how some dumplings (boiled, fried, or steamed) just has a soggy part to it? These were perfect. Great silky texture all around. The grilled pork loin was delicious. The citrus and sweet flavor really made the dish sing. Loved it. If you like warmth (Vodka) and quality comfort bar food on a cold, snowy night... this is the place.

Great food and cocktails, friendly servers. We got a few different drinks, all of which were really tasty. Also ordered lamb shashlik, pierogis, and borscht. Not the best borscht I've had, but everything else was really good.

This place is awesome! My wife and I decided to try this place for our anniversary last night. And we were very impressed. First of all the staff were excellent. And the woman waiting our table seemed to be running the entire front of house which seems to be a trend with staffing shortages. But she did a fantastic job, we never once felt like our needs were not being met. She did a wonderful job. The Moscow Mules are great, and they have a large variety of different types. We tried the Hammer Mule (Which was made with my favorite Hammer and Sickle Vodka) and the Straeberry Rhubarb Mule which was absolutely fantastic. (So good I drank 5 alone) Now for the food. They had a special going for $5 Vareniki/Peirogi plates. So we endulged and tried 3 haha. We had The Comrade (Our favorite), The Polish (Fantastic with the horseradish sauce), and The Yankee (Our least favorite, though still good) By far the best part of the meal was the Beef Stroganoff served over Spaetzel. The creamy sauce they made was absolutely mouth watering. It was by far the best Stroganoff I've ever had (Sorry Mom). The steak was cooked to a perfect Medium-Rare and the Spaetzel was tender and delicious. We finished the night off with the Molten Lava Cake which was perfectly executed. The center was gooey and delicious, and it was served with fresh strawberries and a little drizzle. If youre a big chocolate fan, this dessert is a must. 10/10 we will definitely return for our next date night. Thank you to the staff for our wonderful experience and amazing food.

Hammer and Sickle is fun. The location in central Uptown is great with lots of foot traffic. The decor is fun and the theme is interesting in the best way possible. The mule I had was really refreshing on a summer night and I definitely wanted to try more. I ordered the house vegetarian special, which was honestly the best vegetarian dish I've had since living in Vietnam. I highly recommend Hammer and Sickle, and I will definitely be back!

We visited on a Wednesday evening during restaurant week. We were seated immediately and the service was all around excellent, (friendly, proactive, well timed, and attentive). Place has a cozy feel largely due to the low, warm red accent lighting and compartmentalized seating areas; great date night spot. Food/Drink We started with drinks; Hammer Mule and Lemon Basil Sour (pictured). Both were well crafted cocktails and enhanced our dinner experience, however, be aware that drink prices are not listed on the menu and it cost $26 total for the two we ordered. The Restaurant week menu included Comrade Pierogies (pictured) to start. They were delicious and filling, striking a delightful balance of textures. For the main courses we chose the Beef Stroganoff (pictured) over spaetzle and Golobtsi cabbage roll over mash. Stroganoff doesn't photograph well but it was flavorful. The beef was cooked a perfect med rare and the mushrooms had good bite. The spaetzle was honestly not my favorite (though we didn't hate it) and I think we both would order it served over mashed potatoes next time. The cabbage roll was really good and something I've not had before. The meat was well seasoned, cabbage had a lovely texture, and tomato broth lifted the heaviness of the dish. By this point we were so full that the blintzes served for dessert didn't get much of our attention. We shared a serving (came as two, 4" filled crepes) and had the other packed to go. We opted for the strawberry and it tasted as one would expect...not disappointed/not blown away. If we find ourselves here again, we'd definitely share a meal. We took home half of each entree and left uncomfortably full. Overall, we had an enjoyable dinner experience with great service and recommend a visit, just know it will cost you. After tip, we spent nearly $100.

The perogies are delicious. Moscow Mules and amazing. The entrees and desert and wonderful. This was a delicious restaurant. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was delightful, andmy experiance was satisfying. Not only do they have great food and a great happy hour, their to-go containers are sustainable!

Great happy hour. We had dinner, too. Pierogies, borscht, stroganoff were all good. Perfect for a cold Minnesota evening. Blintzes for dessert! The cocktails were great; the icy mules would be especially refreshing in summer.

Great food, great drinks. We did trivia and, while this wasn't H&S's fault, the pace was interminably slow. The hosts seemed more interested in the Emmy's than asking questions. We had the Polish Pirogi and the lamb skewer and enjoyed them very much. Aside from that, this place is a 5 star establishment on a 3 star block.

I wish I had taken a pierogi pic, but I didn't! We went to Hammer & Sickle on a Tuesday evening and enjoyed $1 pierogies (five come with each order) as well as 2-for-1 mules. I later tried their rendition of a mojito made with blueberry vodka. Everything, including service, was absolutely top notch. 10/10 going back for the great specials & great service 🎉 pictured here is the Cuban Cocktail Crisis (mojito drink - made with their house infused blueberry vodka!)

Had an excellent experience. The beef stroganoff was phenomenal! Definitely need to go back and get a pic.
