Make a reservation. Hostess dude was a little weird about it. The place was empty when we walked in 30 minutes after they opened. He kind of gave us the side eye when I told him he didn't have a reservation.
Food was amazing. Server was very very good.

This place is awesome! Really great food and excellent, reasonably priced cocktails. Wonderful staff and the people who eat and drink here on a regular basis clearly adore this place. Feels like a neighborhood lounge/restaurant where everyone gathers to enjoy time together. Plus, there's free parking! I've been here twice already and can't wait to go back again.

This place is amazing. Really good drinks and you get so much for a decent price. They give you what’s left in the decanter in a full glass. Great value for the money. The wings were delicious. Really crispy and perfectly seasoned, didn’t even need any kind of sauce with them - as they were amazing just as is. The Salmon was cooked perfectly and the service was top notch. Their boozy shakes are the perfect ending. Would highly recommend this place.

I forgot to take a photo of the sampler platter but it was delicious and well worth the $. A while back it used to have liver pate but seemed to be replaced with potato salad which was a disappointment. When it was delivered to our table to our surprise there was a small container of it! So good!
I have noticed in the bar area there are some track lighting that could really be worked on. It’s very bright and harsh, despite that the whole vibe, down to the servers uniforms is spot on!
I’ve been coming here for years and that will continue!
The French 75 and the Sidecar were top notch!!

Great patio experience, inside would be very nice for drinks. Steak was not so great, just poorly seasoned and not a great cut of meat. Green beans were the best I have ever had. Just get a huge plate of them, they are wonderful. GREAT AMBIENCE!

A Minneapolis landmark that sends you back in time with classic decor and signature dishes.
There are a few staples everyone should try at some point. The Monte Carlo wings, filet and potato salad. The filet is small but it is cooked to perfection and very high quality cut. You can turn it into a sandwich as it’s served with pumpernickel bread and horseradish. The potato salad I would say is a bit more similar to Japanese potato salad than the potato salad you would find at lunds/Byerlys. It’s mashed and sweet and tangy with a cream color.
My family has been going here for decades and there’s a reason it’s still around. You should make this a part of your stop when visiting Minneapolis.
Free parking lot for diners to the left of the restaurant.
The venue itself is small with very high ceilings which can make for a noisy atmosphere and sometimes can be difficult to hear people. Reservations recommended.

After binge watching The Bear this month, I’m on a hunt to find a staff that cares about service as much as the TV show. I think that I found it at The Monte Carlo. It’s old school, could be in NYC or Chicago, as far as the service and ambiance. The food was good, but not quite amazing. The scallops were done perfectly. We will be back!

This is a gem of a place. Tucked into a great spot in the North Loop, The Monte Carlo is classy and classic, with a casual, non-pretentious atmosphere. The menu is short and is the same for lunch and dinner but offers a wide-range of options to suit any taste. The bartender, Nate, is an excellent ambassador for the restaurant. His service was second to none, warm and welcoming. The Cajun chicken sandwich was flavorful and juicy. The potato salad is scratch-made deliciousness. The Monte Carlo has an excellent, large patio for ample outdoor seating. There are also many options for gluten-free folks (as I overheard from an accommodating server).

Okay, this review is for the bar, and the bar solely. It was fantastic! Emelia was our mixologist, and she not only knew her craft, she also piled charm on top of her skills. We appreciated the entire staff behind the bar, who smiled, laughed and created a joyful ambiance. All stress, arrogance, and negativity was left outside.
Emelia gave me a choice of three Mezcals and my old fashioned was spirit forward and delicous. I slammed two before dinner. The wine list was eclectic and intersting. Alas, we tried to hurry back from our dinner reservation to enjoy ice cream drinks at the Monte Carlo, but arrived after their closing at 11:00. However, we will be back to enjoy Monte Carlo. BTW, their patio is beautiful.
