OGBH is exactly that. It’s old. It’s German. It’s a beer hall. While the HBH in Munich is the gold standard, here in Milwaukee you can find a skinned down version with the same food and beer you’d expect abroad. There’s a small outside area in front. Grab a table if you can. Otherwise there is plenty of seating inside. We had already had a day of multiple brewery tours so we kept it simple opting for the HB Original and multiple Giant Bavarian Pretzels. Overall the place is cool. The beer is cold and the food is heavy enough to soak and stand up to the beer. Everyone should go at least once.

For me, this is the best German spot I've been to and will go out of my way to stop when I'm in Milwaukee. Great pretzel...oven hot with the very best cheese spread, not oozing cheesy colored liquid! They don't offer pork schnitzel, but the chicken version with the mushroom gravy is delightful. I highly recommend their spaetzel. Location is very close to Fiserve Arena. Nice stretch of bars nearby.

This place is perfect for a cheap but high quality beer to either watch sports, hang out with friend, etc. They sometimes have live music, which is also great. If you’re hungry, you can always get their Bavarian Pretzel, which is huge! You need to get the 2 mustards and beer cheese with it. Additionally, their schnitzel is delicious with perfectly crispy chicken and fries. I’ve never had a bad time here, and the staff are super nice! I definitely recommend checking this place out!

Wanted some good German food while in Milwaukee and they did not disappoint. I wasn't hungry enough for a whole meal (and my hotel room didn't have a fridge for my leftovers) so I ordered the HUGE pretzel special (including an excellent cheese dip), along with a side of delicious warm German Potato salad. Had a Dunkel dark lager beer as well. Wow! All were fabulous! Atmosphere was great, service was excellent, and I definitely will return. (Sad their Chicago location closed).

Came on 3 different occasions during the holiday. The first 2 before sports games and the 3rd, the theatre. Had the Dopplebock each time as I liked it. Scnitzels were great too. The first and second times were great . The 3rd time was a bit irritating. Beer orders wrong. Food order wrong… New staff …. Please train new employees! But it worked out ok….

Great local find. Great staff. Great environment. It does take you to Germany for sure. The hammer and nail gel in back was great fun and the German shots out of the small glass containers was perfect addition. Food that I had was great as well

A wonderfully fun beer hall experience! Delicious menu offerings, OGBH has food and beer for everyone. Varied beer selection from local craft beer to traditional German brands. A legit kitchen offering delicious food to pare with your beer selection. Friendly, inviting and fun staff, this is a place to visit while in this area of Milwaukee.

What's better than free beer Friday? Free beer Friday and a Usinger brat. Chicken Schnitzel was pretty tasty as well. Don't come to a beer hall and expect many liquor choices...but they can make a good bloody Mary. Seating is setup in the street on long tables ideal for larger groups. Ideal for a quick drink and food before taking tour boat ride.

Delicious. Came here for a quick bite before my family had to head back to Turner Hall for my son's fashion show. I love the family to settings with the booth. The beer was delicious. Food was great. I love that they use Usinger's sausage from across the street. I must say the menu had me reading it over a few times.

The quintessentially perfect German pub, featuring plenty of authentic old country decor & various German themed decorations, this dreamy atmosphere, a spacious interior, superb food, an eclectic variety of German brewed beer with an amazing array of traditional Stein glasses for it to be poured into, & an outdoor seating arrangement that is beautifully reminiscent of a mini Beer Hall back in Bavaria. Overall the Old German Beer Hall is an outstanding exemplar of an ideal, old country styled pub/restaurant. Superlative & inviting!
