One thing about Milwaukee is you’re going to find restaurants that have lasted throughout the years. But just because they’ve been around doesn’t mean they’re good.
Mazo’s Hamburgers is definitely a hidden treasure that many often overlook and just drive past. Mazo’s sits on a super busy street with a lot of people and options. We needed up here after wanting a good meal but not wanting to wait in line at other places near.
Upon entering I was extremely nervous because at first glance it didn’t seem like a warm and welcoming place. Once we were seated we were greeted by a sweet older gentleman that you could tell loved doing what he does on a daily basis.
When we ordered our meals we were informed that we got a soup option and they were split pea or chicken noodle. I instantly selected chicken noodle. Split pea just didn’t seem appealing but I was wrong. My mother ordered the split pea soup and I got to try a sip and I must admit it was absolutely delicious. It was smooth and creamy but very seasoned. It tasted like it just came out a southern kitchen.
I knew at that point I was in the right place. The meal came and definitely disappoint. The burger was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The fries were fresh and hot. This is definitely a south side staple in Milwaukee. If you’re in the area and looking for some good food, don’t hesitate to stop.

What an awesome place to eat! Very friendly staff and it's a 3rd generation family restaurant!
Jackie and her team work hard to keep traditions alive.
Great burger, fries, coleslaw, and a drink for cheaper than fast food.
What a great diner. The man that waited on us was super cool. Hamburgers were delicious!!! French fries were perfect - and the chicken noodle soup was divine!!! And so reasonable! Love the vintage ambiance.
I really wanted a juicy good burger that was similar to a home cooked cheeseburger. The burger & fries were just like home and the price was great. I will definitely go back soon.
Mazo's is a great Milwaukee burger diner for almost 100 years. A south side staple. The Supreme Burger (bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato) with sauteed onions was super good. A good sized burger and cooked just right. Check the days open and hours before going. Soups are also great.
Mazos has amazing burgers and fries. Their prices are fair and the staff does a great job! Not fast food, but quality ingredients make it worth the wait!
There's a reason this place is considered one of the top burger places in the area and it's the meat. It's still good as heck after almost a hundred years. Dining room is pretty small so you may want to do carryout.
Has always been the best burger. Other places show you pictures of what a beautiful burger looks like. Mazo's gives you a prime, gorgeous, tastebud tantalizing, piece of art. The texture joyride starts with the fresh cloudlike bun, continues through the creamy cheese before and culminates in the perfectly cooked, hand formed beef patty. I highly recommend starting with an unadorned far from plain, plain burger. Add and experiment on subsequent visits. Dine in, relax and enjoy the ambiance.
Step back in time ... and enjoy a great burger! I had a bacon burger - delish and LARGE! The service is good, the place is immaculate!
You can't go wrong with a Mazos' burger!!
One of the kings of Milwaukee hamburgers. Good fries too. And chicken noodle soup.
