Though the food is well prepared, there are disappointments one shouldn’t expect from such an ambitious menu. The first was the barbecue shrimp with a poorly done sauce and four small crustaceans that looked a little lonely on the plate. The last was the bread pudding billed as a white chocolate version, an ingredient hard to detect. The service was excellent but the manager offset that by arguing with us about the makeup of said dessert which was a collection of crumbles passed off as the pudding. In between the portions were tasty but skimpy, definitely not worth the prices. So would not recommend

The service was great, even after I sent the entree back. The Mirliton bisque was the best I have ever eaten. The BBQ shrimp was a poor imitation of the real thing. The salad was bag lettuce and the Chicken Marcela sauce tasted like brown gravy mixed with BBQ sauce. I sent it back and reordered the crab cakes. Those were tasty. The prices were not too high but be careful about what you order.

Had 6:30pm reservation for wife and I for Valentines Day. Got seated fairly promptly by woman without too much personality, think she may be one of the owners. It took almost 20 minutes for a waiter to get to our table. I wouldn't say they were slammed. Finally, a waiter came and took our drink order and appetizer order and said he would bring out hot bread. The waiter came with our drinks and another waiter whom we were told would be our waiter for the night. We placed our order with the second waiter and he too said he would bring out hot bread. About 15 minutes passed we flagged down the second waiter to remind him about the bread which he forgot then finally got hot bread. About 10 minutes he came out with salads which was all lettuce. My wife had to poor her own vinegar and oil combination. I has creamy blue cheese which seemed a little watery. The wife had lobster which had a crusty batter over the tail. It was different but tasted pretty good. I had scallops which were very good. After being there almost 90 minutes the bus boy came around to pick up plates and ask if we wanted dessert which we declined and asked for the check. Our waiter never did come back to ask if we needed anything or how was everything . Finally , our waiter came with the bill. The bill was picked up by same woman that seated us. She did not say a word to us, not even thank you for coming and I'm pretty sure she was the owner. This is the third time eating there. First time was a similar bad experience. Second time was better because of service but this third time left a lot to be desired about the staff and said owner. I really don't think there will be a fourth time. I gave a two star rating because of this. However, the appetizer and the two main dishes were pretty good but had great dishes for less elsewhere.

My husband and I eat her frequently. The food is always amazing and the service is great. The scallops served over orzo with asparagus are the best! It's nice to have a place in Metairie where you can get a great fine dining experience without having to drive all the way into New Orleans!

We enjoyed the atmosphere, food was very good, BUT that bag lettuce lack class. My husband and I dislike bag lettuce, it has a distinct taste. This needs improvement. I had the soft shell crab and miltion soup / and scallop, milton soup. Dessert-breadpudding. Waiters are the best!!!

Restaurant Cypress is located just off Transcontinental and West Esplanade in Metairie. It is a fine food establishment that has been in business at this location for many years. Enjoyed a wonderful dinner here tonight. I had their seasonal crawfish bisque which is superb! as an appetizer. As an Entree' I had the chef's special fish of the day - Drum with jumbo lump crabmeat topping, rice pilaf and asparagus. Wonderful meal! Before Dinner, I had an Italian Pinot Grigio for about 8.00 per glass. Total cost per person was about 35.00 including a soup appetizer, salad, entree' and a glass of wine. Highly recommend.

Dined at Restaurant Cypress with a party of 7 on New Years Eve 2015. I asked our waiter if I could substitute mashed potatoes for the rice pilaf that was a side for the fish entree. I ordered the fish and the waiter assured me he would check with the chef and let me know. The waiter never returned with an answer from the chef so I could order a different entree or order an additional side from the menu. When the fish entree was served to me with the rice pilaf I was a little irritated that the waiter had not come back to me with the chef's response. I didn't make a big deal over it and just pushed the rice to the side. I have dined at Reataurant Cypress many times before and the rice pilaf just doesn't suit my taste. The manager visited our table towards the end of the meal and asked if everything was ok. I politely explained what had happened and said I was disappointed that the waiter had failed to get back to me with the chef's response. I conveyed to the manager that I was ok, but she proceeded to lecture me on how the mashed potatoes were only paired with the veal chop entree and that there was only enough mashed potatoes to go with the veal entree. She was unprofessional, showed no concern or respect for me as a customer, and completely ignored the fact that the waiter failed on his commitment to get back to me. It's not like I was asking for something for nothing. The total bill for our last and final visit to Restaurant Cypress was approximately $260. I expected a lot more in terms of customer service.
