When you first walk into the restaurant, it smelled like they might've had issues with their bathrooms. But once we decided to stick around and be seated, the food made up for the wrong first impression. And apparently, even the smell didn't deter others from coming in to dine - which says a lot. They had great salsa and chips, tasted like it was made fresh (we had multiple salsas throughout our meal). The tamale platter with green corn and beef tamales was full of flavor and moist. Both the Chile Relleno Chimi with Shrimp was great, as well as the fish tacos. The lunch prices were great and the service was excellent. Once they work out the issue of the smell at the entrance, I can see this place taking off with the MCC students across the street.
What a wonderful Mexican restaurant! This place really is colorful; it makes me want to visit Mexico! The food is very good and the service is at or above average. I went on Wednesday and enjoyed a full price entrée with a free dessert. I had the chicken enchiladas zuisas style with special sauce and avocado. I chose the mild green sauce and it was so good that I asked for extra sauce. For dessert, I had the fried ice cream, which is my favorite mexican-restaurant dessert. This was one of the best I've had. They roll the ice cream ball in corn flakes (or something like it) and surrounded it with small mounds of whipping cream and chocolate sauce. I also sipped on a strawberry margarita. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't drink margaritas very often, but it seemed properly made and very delicious. My waitress was polite and prompt. She checked on me frequently without being too frequent. Their bathrooms are clean and well-maintained. The restaurant itself is so pretty that the bathrooms can't quite compete and look quite plain. However, if the restaurant weren't so extravagantly decorated, I would say that the bathrooms are very nice with pretty tile. The seat liners were unfortunately out of stock when I went into the bathroom, but I'm very glad that they have the holders to provide them. If I ever have the pleasure of visiting Mesa again, I will definitely revisit this restaurant.
Had a coupon for this place, but didn't use because they have a great lunch special (every day). Everything is homemade and tasted good. The lettuce for garnish was pretty wiltly but didn't mind. Small portions/Tacos, but it was only 6.95 and comes with rice, beans and a drink. Salsa is very tasty too. The decor is beautiful, very colorful! We will be back.
