Strano By Chef Josh

We had a wonderful experience at Strano for our anniversary! They had excellent service and even better food. I got lobster balls and spicy shrimp alfredo. The meal was well seasoned and plated well. Upon conclusion of dinner we was served a surprise dessert with apple pie and cheesecake. The apple pie was delicious and unique. Not sure what chef Josh did to the pie but whatever it is must be magic. I almost forgot to mention they added flowers to the table from their own garden! We met the chef Josh upon conclusion of dinner. He came to the table. What a nice touch! Over all I rank this place a must eat for all of Memphis. It is so rare to have both great food and great service. I look forward to eating here again for my birthday dinner this Saturday!

Upon arrival I was very politely greeted and asked for my seating preferences. Even though I was dining alone, they allowed me whichever table in the main dining room that I chose. Jermaine, my server, helped me choose the best combination of food and drinks to delight my taste buds. I started with the Garden Party cocktail which was sublime and served with a sprig of lavender. The lobster tots were my chosen appetizer and they were the perfect mixture of crispy on the outside and soft and savory on the inside. Loved the chunks of lobster and sauces served with it. For my entree, I had the lamb with gnocchi. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned just right to mix with the red wine sauce. I had a glass of sparkling rose with dinner, which was a lighter compliment to the heavy entree. I couldn't finish all of that food, or I might have considered a dessert. It was certainly a meal worth sharing.

We shared an assortment of apps and a salad. They were all perfect. The blue cheese dressing on the salad was well balanced and just the right amount. The bucket of bones was my favorite; however, i did not love the chicken leg. The skin was not crisp at all and the flavor, while not in the least bit bad, was not standout good. The calamar was grilled perfectly, not chewy at all. We also had the chocolate cake dessert. It was good, but the icing was way too sweet for me - I don't eat a lot of sweets.

This is one of those places that you can’t go wrong choosing. For any occasion or any day. They have a great happy hour offering, amazing brunch, delicious dinner and lunch menu!! Just go! Do your selves a favor and try it!!! If you ever try something that isn’t amazing, they’ll make it right for you, too! Just let them know.

The service was outstanding. The food, however, was just ok. Nothing to write home about. We had a party of 10 and the accommodated us without reservations. Food came out quickly. My grits we cold. French toast was good. My son said it was a little to sweet and that's a lot coming from a 10yr old. My mom had Shrimp and grits. Her grits were cold as well and it was too spicy. My dad loved his steak and eggs. And my 17 yr old ate all of his 5 cheese omelette, fruit bowl, french toast and a side of bacon. (What can I say, he's a growing boy!) You will enjoy the food, environment and service.
