Being conscientious about the COVID-19 Pandemic and at the same time, wanting a great, local place to have a bite away from the cage we call home-Sideporch Steakhouse is the place to go. I stopped in after work to have a quick drink after a bad day and it was incredible. Staff met me at the door, took my temp asking me the required questions....also had me sign in (gotta love restaurants that actually comply to rules). Regan waited on me and was ABOVE AMAZING! So sweet and on it! It was as if these folks had done this time and again. Every table was perfectly spaced. Every customer wore a mask when entering and walking to and from their tables, and ALL staff were wearing their masks and CORRECTLY! You have no idea how much that means to this science major. Not only is their food terrific but they are doing everything they can to ensure your safety. Way to go. The only suggestion I’d have to make the actual food even better is to drain the steamed veggies a bit more before playing them as they seem to be very watery once they hit the plate and/or offer a few more healthier side option like fresh sliced tomatoes or spicy green beans Or maybe asparagus, etc. Nevertheless-I will always support you!
This place is awesome. Best steak without going to a pretentiously-overpriced steakhouse. Fantastic steaks every time, the crouton bread and rolls are great appetizers (free) and the baked potatoes are cooked exactly how they should be. Solid choice every time.
Ribeye- 14 Ounce. Beautifully seared on the outside, tender and cooked to perfection on the inside, sitting in a pool of meaty, juicy goodness (au. jou). I could drink a cup of it! Best steak I've ever had
We had a party of eight. The waitress was excellent. The crouton rolls were delicious. I had the grilled shrimp. They were cooked well and weren't too spicy. Loved the regular rolls. Everyone else had huge steaks, and all agreed they were cooked perfectly. Great prices and great food.
We just moved in down the street from this place and I love the food, but dining in is a bit cramped (which to me is a good sign, it means they're trying to accommodate as many customers as possible)
The steak is pretty great and juicy
but my highlight of this restaurant was their chocolate pecan pie.
My husband and I plan on returning but we'll probably order take out.

Go for the crispy seasoned rolls!. My husband and I have been here a number of times. The Side Porch is the kind of charming local restaurant I love taking visitors to. The floors are uneven, there is a hodge podge of furniture, and they serve their beverages in mason jars. It is a bit squashed so it is probably not the best atmosphere for a romantic dinner or business meal but is perfect for a fun family meal. I do enjoy their steak and find that it is cooked to my specifications. However, I admit, I'm not overly fond of their marinade, it has somewhat of a sour bite on occasion when the proportions seem off. I generally order the filet and they wrap a piece of bacon around it. I love bacon but for some reason the bacon they use is on the fatty side (yes, all bacon is fatty, but this is always particularly fatty). The real standouts are the giant crouton rolls they serve to nibble one while you wait for your drinks, and also the ranch dressing. I could probably just dip the giant croutons in ranch and call that a meal, both are that good. The menu is definitely on the limited side, besides steak they have chicken, salmon, and fried shrimp, and their sides are baked potatoes, sweet potatoes, fries, etc. But it is basic, good, no-frills food that I really enjoy. They also have pretty standard appetizers (e.g., fried pickles). Other than the steak marinade I wouldn't change a thing about this place, I enjoy it every time we have dinner here.
Best Steak Restaurant. I've been going to Side Porch for years. My husband and I order take out from there at least once a week. These people sure know how to cook a steak. Mine is always perfect...so tender, juicy, and flavorful. I love the rib eye and filet. My husband always gets the filet and shrimp. The shrimp are wonderful. We also love the fried okra, homemade bleu cheese dressing, rolls, and croutons.
My only complaints are I feel their steaks are a little on the pricey side and service is not always very friendly. Other than that, I'm sure I'll be eating at this establishment for years to come.
Juicy, tender filet. And the au jus makes it even better....no need for steak sauce. The homemade ranch dressing is a hit, as well as the croutons and yeast rolls. Good service, atmosphere a little claustrophobic. Overall great food!
Good. The first time I tried the Side Porch, I got their steak and shrimp. While the rest of the meal was great, their steak was less impressive. However, I gave it a second try and discovered their grilled chicken. So good! They have the best chicken, baked potatoes, ranch dressing, and crouton rolls. We continue to frequest this place for those items alone.
Flat out lOVE IT!! A staple of bartlett's steak houses!

I took my wife here for our anniversary based on a recommendation from her Doctor and I am not disappointed that we chose to come. We made reservations in advance and when we arrived were seated immediately. I would say it was be best for you to make reservations if you hate waiting for a table.
The building has a great atmosphere to it that feels down home and friendly. The staff were amazing and friendly for our entire meal especially our server ,Violet, who was always sure to check and make sure our drinks were full and that we had everything we needed for our meal.
My wife and I both ordered the bacon wrapped steak with a Caesar salad and loaded baked potato. We also ordered a side of fried mozzarella as our appetizer. The food was amazing and the portions were perfect. In fact I would say we did not even need the appetizer between the entree itself and the "croutons" they gave us.
For those that are used to the small hard croutons at other restaurants, these are not those. These croutons are more likened to garlic bread than standard small croutons. All of that to say that they were delicious and we found ourselves having to stop chowing down on them to save room for our main course.
I would highly recommend coming out and giving them a try.
My family and I recently enjoyed a delightful dinner at the Side Porch, and overall, our experience was quite satisfying. The restaurant's ambiance was cozy, providing a perfect setting for a family meal. While the steak's marinade might be a matter of personal preference, the croutons served as a delightful surprise that added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal. We look forward to returning and exploring more of what this charming restaurant has to offer.
Came from Louisiana to visit Memphis and wanted something local and unique and we hit the jackpot with this little gem! Thanks to local references in a Memphis restaurant review group we had the most delicious meal tonight! They give you very generous portions and the complementary bread is fresh and addictive! Karlie was a wonderful server. Very attentive and sweet! If we come back up this way we will definitely be back!
Food is good. Some of the plates are pricey but overall reasonably. The downfall is all the extra taxes they add including the liquor tax. Do not order the kids meal shrimp for your child. It is spicy and not for kids. Could not believe they charged an extra $5 to add a broccoli side to the kids meal either. The filet was good.
Great environment to have a date. I made a reservation for my wife and I and was seated almost instantly upon our arrival for the time slotted. Only reason for a 4 star on food is because my steak was not seasoned at all this time around, which is why I have A-1 Sauce on the steak in the pic. Outside of that, everything else was great.
The food, service and atmosphere of this establishment is great... ordered the 8oz filet with shrimp and it was cooked perfectly needing no sauce!! Highly recommend...
Food was great. It's very pricy though; the cheapest steak is $29. You get a side and a salad but I still don't think that makes up for the price. Could get the same thing with 2 sides for a few bucks cheaper at almost any other steak restaurant.
Service is passable. Nothing special or terrible. Same goes for the atmosphere. The restaurant has a lot of echo so voices carry and it can get kind of loud depending on how packed it is.
I think its worth it to go once to try the steak but I don't think it's a go-to kind of restaurant.
I haven’t been here in years. I must say “I love what you’ve done with the place!” Our server (Shaylea or Shayla) was so sweet and attentive. I apologize if I got her name wrong… I was celebrating my 41st birthday and it was such a nice memory for the books. Our food was delicious. Had the ribeye and baked potato! My mom had Nog Dave’s chicken and it was cooked to perfection. The delicious croutons never stood a chance at surviving our table.
The side salad could use a some onion, cucumbers, and little more cheese but overall great experience. Strawberry Cake was awesome! Staff-great. Environment-Clean and welcoming. I can say that we will definitely be making more frequent visits to Side Porch! Job well done. Keep it up.
Great steaks. House made blue cheese dressing. Great prices. Update: Visited restaurant under new management for son's birthday. The renovated place looks good with fresh paint and floors. Owners attentive, making sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying their food. My son's filet was raw, rather than medium rare, and they fixed the steak right away, along with the fries that were still undercooked, as well. He reported that his shrimp was rubbery. My husband's steak, the porterhouse, and my strip (half of which went home with me) were cooked perfectly medium rare, baked potatoes hot and fluffy, salads good with house made dressing. The new management is off to a great start in keeping the tradition alive for this Bartlett institution. I even thought their crouton basket was better than the previous menu item.
The homemade croutons are AMAZING. The steak was a little under seasoned but tasty. Don't post on the menu how a steak should look for each type, rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, well. Then, not cook it to look like that. You will be forced to cook another.
