My favorite Mexican food place in Memphis. Food is great, margaritas are perfect and my waiter always remembers our favorites!
Get Their Sky, Surf and Turf dip thingie. It's giant shrimp, perfectly cooked steak slices, and spiced chicken smothered in wonderful white cheese sauce. Served with the best pico de gallo and tortillas imaginable.
I'm shocked at all the bad reviews because this is a great restaurant if you know what to order. Good choices are chicken tortilla soup, quesadillas, and nacho Fajitas. Although I do wish that this location had taco thursday like in colleriville when tacos are only a $1!!
Try the chimichanga and the horchata (drink) very good. My husband had tacos and were ok
Enjoyable. This will be my third time eating at El Porton. The food is always great and satisfying and the service is good also!
Value. Food is usually good but service can be "spotty". Prices are very reasonable and this place has the cleanest bathrooms ever.

OK takeout. If you want reliable, cheese-slathered, not authentic at all mexican takeout, El Porton probably won't disappoint you. The cheese steak burrito and beef chimichanga are both solid choices. The chips are fresh. The special guacamole is really good (don't skimp and get the regular stuff). The cheese sauce is your classic queso blanco. They're quick and accurate with their takeout orders. However, make sure you bring a list of what you ordered-for some weird reason, they don't take names for orders. Instead, they just ask you what you had. It's cheap and a little more refined than Taco Bell.
I like this place when I was pregnant so much ! And I still do. Good kid friendly - nice menu variations - we like the different dip options and the Margaritas are great :)
This is an authentic great place! The waiters know the quality food well, speak Spanish as a first language and are super. I've been going there for years and love it. It is a very authentic place. Viva la comida!
