D'amici's Bakery

I have to say I've been to this place many of times and I find it one of the best bakeries in the area ...But today I was there and I was never more disappointed... If i was not here before I would never come here again ...The two girls that worked here today did not care about the bakery ..the food.. or the customers.. the sandwich was thrown together like it was made by a 5 year old... The second sandwich did not even have the proper ingredients in it ..I was extremely disappointed.. and so wasn't my company....

I have made many reviews on Google and rarely do I give a negative one, but this was a shocker. I do agree that the food is decent. However, the customer service is sorely lacking in any sort of basic hospitality training. The clerk this afternoon basically laid down on the counter while ringing me out. She rested her entire chest on the counter while stabbing the white register with her excruciatingly long bedazzled nails. In addition, she failed to use wax paper to separate the items that she carelessly tossed into a paper bag...Not to mention that she then was so rude to the woman behind me patiently waiting for a to go box. The clerk actually said "When I'm finished!" to the woman. Honestly?!? Did the clerk think that was an acceptable way to treat customers? Where is the etiquette? Clearly this clerk was not only lacking in training, but also in common courtesy. I will not return.

Learned about this bakery at a Farmer’s Market in Lexington where I bought their cookies for my kids. It was delicious! So I decided to go to Melrose and get my bday cake from them. I ordered a Tiramisu Cake and all my guests and I loved it! Melrose location is in downtown Melrose, there is plenty of street parking. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The prices are reasonable with a variety of options. Highly recommend giving them a try.

I ordered a Sofia the first cake for my daughters 2nd birthday. The design and appearance of the cake was decent. I can't say it was the best. The quality of the cake as far as the freshness did not taste fresh at all! My guests commented that it was super dry and tasted as it was made days ago. I could say the same when I tasted it as well. The cake did not taste freshly made whatsoever! I contacted them and do not seem to be sympathetic about it or even offer half a refund or anything! They are stating it was freshly made. There is no guarantee. The taste of the cake spoke for itself. I'm the one who actually ate it not them! Mind you the cake was not that big it was only for 25 people and I paid $121. More than half of the cake was left over ad none of my guests even wanted to take a piece home. I would NEVER recommend this bakery to anybody!!!

As far as any of the baked creations go, this place is fabulous every time. Whoever does the baking here is skillful and creative. In addition to cakes, cookies, pastries, muffins, etc., they also make outstanding bread. One of my few disappointments here, though, is that they do not make honey grain breads--not even special order. Their iced coffees, cappachinos and the few sandwich items they do are excellent, as well. The service staff here seems very young and customer service isn't as good as it could be, but I don't think anyone ever leaves here unhappy. I'll forever be a returning customer!

Great coffee and pastries for sure. Oddly their espresso machine was broken today. This is not a great place to hang and do work. None of the outlets work next to the tables (there are three and they don't work) and the wifi is slow and unreliable. Also they play country music which obviously loses another star.

For the past 3 years I've been going to D'Amici's Bakery for custom cakes and they have all looked and tasted amazing! BUT, their pricing recently changed and their cakes are now completely un-affordable. Not just a small increase, but 3x the pricing I received from a party we have less than a year ago. Now because of the sticker shock, I need to find a new bakery with little to no time before my daughter birthday. Sadly I wont go back.
