Austria Hof Restaurant

We stayed in Mammoth Lakes for a night while traveling through California. My husband found this place and we are so glad we stumbled across this restaurant! We got there during Happy Hour. While there was a selection of German beers on tap we had never heard of, my husband and I were extremely pleased with the beer we tried. Bartender was very helpful in selecting a beer to our taste. And let me just say, the food here is amazing!! Forget what our items were called but our taste buds were dancing the whole night!

Love Austria Hof! Favorite happy hour in Mammoth area! Great variety of hot and cold starters including delicious baked brie, beet salad, stuffed mushrooms, carpaccio, spaetzel, pork belly, escargot and so much more - all at excellent prices, especially during happy hour! Love the casual, spacious bar area and great service!

Don’t miss the opportunity to eat at this restaurant!! This is my favorite on Mammoth!! The atmosphere is quaint and personal . The staff is friendly, knowledgeable , professional, and anticipate needs of guest. The food is incredible... the quality of the meals are comparable to a five star restaurant in famous New Orleans!!! Without the high prices. The potions are plentiful. They offer exotic gourmet and do a Fantastic job! They have duck , elk, veal, escargot, Lobster, scallops,rabbit,pizza, steaks, baked Brie. Mac and cheese , many German dishes I cannot pronounce. Plus more! And their chief is fabulous! Everything that hits the table is prepared with creativity and wondrous flavors..the best dinning experience I have ever had outside of New Orleans and def the best on Mammoth ! I will prolly not eat any where else now that I know about Austria hof Restaurant. keep up the great work!! And thank you for wonderful food and the best experience in dinning here! We had the filet with blue cheese stuffed mushroom and it was incredible!! Perfectly cooked medium rare . Then we came again later in the week and had the scallops and poke salad . Again highly recommended!!! the staff was very kind , professional and timely. The food was superb! The blend of flavors and skills of the chef is closely related to the skill of our traditional New Orleans creole and Cajun cuisine chefs. The poke salad is incredible!!! Hasimi, ahi tuna sashimi ,tobiko, wontons, lobster, avocado, seaweed salad, and the most delicious sauce I have ever had. party on the plate , party on the table , party on the palate !!! Austria Hof never fails to exceed expectations!! Incredible!! Let me add .... the hospitality of the lodging staff is very accommodating! Very kind, generous and considerate. We got stranded this week d/ t weather and Austria Hof got us a place to stay, without hesitation and reassured us that they would make sure we have a place to stay till our flight could get us off the mountain. They made what could have been a highly anxiety driven situation and turned it in to a pleasurable and exciting experience..Truly impressed by every kindness and service of this establishment!! We can’t thank you enough Austria Hof!!! You all truly are the essence of hospitality!

Unfortunately, the schnitzel is not properly pounded or breaded, and it tastes more akin to a chicken marsala style breading. The jager schnitzel breading was all but lost in the sauce, and the sauce was lack luster. The spaetzle is the extruded style rather than hand formed, but was serviceable enough. The polish sausage was fairly standard and uninteresting. The only reasons for the review not being a one star, in regards to food, was the smoked pork chop and the bratwurst. Both were good though not exceptional. The wait staff, while friendly enough, also required us to manually split the bill ourselves, which should be a fairly straight forward process in most POS systems. Not a huge issue, but after the disappointing food, it was an annoyance.
