Gem in the heart of classy Salamanca district. Hard to find a place with great atmosphere great food and great price in such an exclusive area. This place suits couples and groups of people. The quaint room downstairs is perfect for group. Parking in the area is challenging.
Everything about this lunch was outstanding. We stuck with lots of shared vegy plates and were blown away by the freshness and taste. "Ugly" tomato salad was a huge, peeled tomato chopped tableside. Leeks and artichokes were out of this world. Fantastic, friendly service and reasonable prices are an added bonus. Do not forget desert.
My family was staying in Madrid right near Puerta de Alcala and we were looking for a place for dinner one night. I happened to find this restaurant on Google maps and took a look at the menu. It looked good, and even though my wife and daughter are both picky eaters it looked like they could both find something they'd like. There were 8 of us, and they had no problem accommodating a party that size. The staff was great. As Americans, we spoke pretty poor Spanish, but there was a waitress from Ireland who made things so much easier on us. The food was fantastic. My daughter raved about her steak. She never does that, so that should tell you something right there. All in all, this was the best restaurant we went to while in Spain, and if I'm ever back in Madrid, I will definitely be back!
Great quality meat and prepared to perfection (with plates heated to keep the food hot). Deserts were also great. Service was friendly and prices are very affordable.
We were just passing over this place and decided to go in without a reservation. The staff, after contradictory opinions, managed to find a table for us which we really appreciated. We had the 24€ menu. The salmorejo was really good and the entrecot was of quality as well. Fries are freshly made as well as the desserts. The staff was kind and attentive with us.
The dish of the day was a solid piece of steak. The salmorejo was solid, if anything the portion was massive. The steamed veggies where kind of sad. But that's what you get with steamed veggies. The melted cheese was super funky we had no idea what it was, but with the sweet olive sauce it was great. The fries where good, I was missing some sort of sauce with them, but they had a nice crunch. The wine selection was solid. We didn't make the best choice, but that's on us. If you're in the neighborhood, I'd give this place a shot.
An overall excellent meal. We shared only vegetarian appetizers and they were all excellent, especially the beet soup and the artichokes. Service was superb. Wine selection is good. Prices are reasonable.
Amazing experience. Amazing food. Amazing drinks. From someone in North America, it was quite cheap compared to similar restaurants in NY or Toronto. Highly recommended.
Staff were nice and helpful with recommendations. I was disappointed with my beef but otherwise enjoyed the experience. The wait staff recommended this wine that was beautiful on the palate and paired well with the carne. I would recommend reservations as this place becomes very busy.
We had very good time in vacahuerta. My friends coming from Germany were also very impressed with molleja and the beef. Especially “ la vaca rubia de gallega”. Good good wine good vibe good service. What else do you need for a perfect dinner?
