Tapatio Mexican Restaurant

It was very delicious! The service was a little slower. But not bad at all. Especially since chips and salsa were present. So many Mexican restaurants (especially in the midwest) have everything drowning in cheese and/or sour cream. But they had slightly different menu options that felt a little more authentic. In addition to the usual staples on the Mexican restaurant menus I was able to eat gluten free and dairy free! We thoroughly enjoyed it and we will be coming back!

I live in an area where Mexican restaurants have to hit a high bar in order to compete and stay in business. When my large party entered the restaurant I was impressed by the authentic vibe I initially got. The wait staff was very nice, however maybe two people understood English and it was very little at that. The staff was very hard working as well. All that doesn’t matter much if the food quality isn’t there. The safe bet for was to order steak fajitas. What can go wrong there? The beef was shriveled up and mashed into a pan of over fried vegetables with loads of grease. I asked for rice only and the rice had this liquid cheese in the center that I didn’t request. I tried 3 times to ask one of three waiters to to take my dish because it was terrible and I was looked at like I was an alien. My nephew rejected his tacos 3 times due to the awful looking and foul tasting orange grease that oozed out from the ends. He is used to quality Mexican food from Chicago and was very disappointed in tapitos attempt at providing decent food. To the great locals from the Madison, do yourself a favor and save your money until your are able to travel to an area that has good Mexican food. The one positive was they have great fried ice cream.

Didn't like it too much. I'm not one that is a pain in people's butts about flavor and all but it was bland and my steak fajitas was chard/black on one side. We waited an hour for food which is the longest I have ever waited at a Mexican restaurant. The people was friendly though. Would I go here again no. I'm sorry but the friendliness isn't enough to bring me back.

This is the only Mexican restaurant my husband and I go to. We were so sad when it was closed for Covid. The new place is so pretty and the outside dining is wonderful on a summer evening (there’s even ceiling fans). The food is alway great. Their guacamole is a delicious dish all by itself! Staff is very friendly. Yes some of the staff have limited English, but they try very hard to understand. If they can’t the manager/owner is always available to help. In the past 4 years we have never been displeased or disappointed. It is really great to see a local, family business thriving in our small town!

Fast friendly service we ordered and no more than 8 to 10 minutes had our food which was hot, fresh , and delicious. The drinks were cold and made perfect I do not have a unpleasant thing to say this is by far the best authentic Mexican restaurant I have eaten at would have given 6 stars if possible.
