If you’re in the mood for fried chicken then look no further! This is some of the best crispy/juicy fried chicken I’ve had in the city without a doubt.. I hate to give a less than stellar review especially after such great service but . . . I have to. First, the good. The entire staff was friendly and smiling. Our waitress was attentive and sweet without being overbearing and actually remembered to bring the extra sauce with our food, which is almost unheard of. I got the 3 piece dark, my dad got the famous catfish. The beans were excellent, but that's about the only thing that was. The slaw was quite sour, the fries were too salty, the catfish was way too salty and tasted muddy, and they missed a few spots on the chicken with the breading so the exposed meat was way over cooked and chewier than leather so at least 1/4-1/3 of it was unedible. I'd like to think that this was just an off night for them, but seeing as how it was almost 6 on a Friday night and it wasn't even half full, it might not have been. Again, the service and staff was excellent, but we won't be going back because of the food.

I love Champy's. I've never had a bad meal here and I've been a lot. They have some of the best chicken tenders in town. All the sides are great. Fries are always done right and delicious. The on the bone fried chicken is always great as well. Prices are great too. Nice selection of craft beer. I do wish they would rotate the kegs more but that's just because I love trying new beer. I love supporting this small business. Update: 4/18/21 We went for the brunch and the chicken and waffles were really good. The potatoes were very bland though. One thing that bothered me is there was no physical brunch menu. Even though our waitress explained what they served for brunch well, I didn't know what it cost and there is always a certain kind of rush feeling when you can't read exactly what you are getting. I think Champy's could really benefit from a physical brunch and beer menus. I've also had this issue when sitting in the dining room and wanting a beer and while the wait staff has a beer menu, it usually doesn't have everything on it. I'm not changing my 5 star review because I love Champy's and I will continue to come frequently because the quality and good service is always there.

I’ll say that the fried chicken at this establishment is outstanding. The incredible sides help augment the main aim of this restaurant with each being classic but extremely well made. Champy’s is in a way that old country cooking you knew grandma can make when you needed a food comfort hug. I can’t say anything really bad about this place at all. Trivia night was interesting on one occasion and the atmosphere is spot on.

Champy's is great. The atmosphere is fun, the owner is welcoming to everyone and makes you feel right at home and the service was terrific. Food was fresh and delicious. Chicken tenders are plump and crisp and the buffalo sauce was just the right level of kick. Really enjoyed our meal and it will definitely be a stop when we are in the area!
