Tonight was our first night having dinner at Peyton's place. It was great! We got a chance to speak with the owner and told him how satisfied we were and that our meal was delicious, I had ordered the catfish dinner, my husband had country fried steak and my daughter had fish and chips. Everything was cooked to perfection and there was even good size portions on our plate. The staff was very kind in our waitress friendly and helpful. I definitely give this place 5 stars and we will definitely be back. What a great addition to Luray, finally an extremely great place to eat with friendly people. I definitely recommend you try this place out they serve breakfast lunch and dinner. They also do carry out.

Really enjoyed my dinner at this new restaurant in Luray. My granddaughter and I both ordered fish and it was wonderful. Both the cod and catfish were very fresh and perfectly cooked. The coleslaw and mashed potatoes with gravy were excellent. Our waitress, Joyce , was very attentive, gracious and professional. The restaurant is spacious and comfortable and there is ample parking. Pricing is reasonable and menu is extensive. We will definitely be back soon!

I was excited to see this restaurant come to town, but after visiting I can fully under the mixed reviews. The food was amazing. Not a single complaint on the taste, serving size, or price. Service was much slower than other restaurants in town. There were about 4-5 other couples/small groups eating when we arrived. It took well over an hour for our food to arrive to the table after ordering. When my wife checked her hamburger, it was pink and cold to the touch (not even rare). The cook was very apologetic and made her a whole new plate. They went out of their way to make it correct, but numerous other tables had issues with wellness. They seemed to be having issues with their burner the night we visited. The problem is, we had already waited over an hour to get our food, then we had to wait another 20-30 minutes to get the meal corrected. I personally did not have a issue with the room temperature, but numerous people complained the AC was not on and the building was very hot. I guess it was around 80+ degrees inside. The odd thing about our visit was the dishwasher walked outside 3 or 4 times a hour. Even though 5+ tables had dirty dishes remaining on the table even after guest have been gone 30+ minutes. Seems as if the staff does not work well together. Our waitress was accommodating if we asked for something, but she would let our drinks set empty until you asked. This is a new restaurant, and I feel the food is a excellent value, but they have a few kinks and issues to work out. The owners were onsite the night we was there and they also was working hard to help keep their staff moving. No complaints on the taste or the price, but beware if your in a hurry or have issues eating in warm environments.

I agree really looked forward to this place being great but not quiet there. Party of two ordered cheese fries swear there were twelve fries on a plate of cheese soup. I was wondering where the crackers were. I ordered beef stew with side of Mac n cheese other ordered wings. Got stew by time cooled down I got Mac and cheese decided to combine the two to add little taste. By the time I finished the other person in my party had jst got wings. Asked for ranch two times still waiting. Was disappointed the same decorations from the Irish pub still hang. Doesn’t remind me of “country cooking at its best” . However I will recommend the bar this guy did great on the drinks and very quick to get them out. However I do wish this place well sure could use a good restaurant in Luray.

Not sure why all the haters with negative reviews, other then they’re just the ignorant locals. Used to eating at McDonalds. Payton’s Place is a fresh new Restaurant recently opened in the Valley. They’re in the first couple weeks in operation, and are killing it. Fresh local sourced food. Proteins are all broken down and hand cut in house. Every staff member was intentive. We were greeted the second we walked through the door with open arms. Both the service as well the food was exceptional. Iced cold beer, which selection was quite diverse. Looking forward to see menu changes during the upcoming seasons. Thank you Chef Donald, for sharing you love and passion of food.

Breakfast omelet and potatoes were good. I ordered oatmeal and fried apples for my toddler and the oatmeal was way too dry and the apples were burnt. Service was okay. I didn't go in but my husband gave the restroom 2 thumbs down.

My wife and I were in Luray on business and decided to try this new eatery for breakfast. We made a huge mistake but hopefully I can spare the rest of you the same experience. We arrived at Payton’s about 11 am on a Sunday morning. There were only 2 other tables each with 2 people in the restaurant so we expected wuick seevice. We waited 16 minutes before we were brought menus. We were handed both breakfast and lunch menus and we decided we wanted breakfast. Our server did ask if she could bring us beverages while we looked over the menus. I requested coffee. Another 10 minutes went by and I was brought a mug of something that looked something looked something like coffee but sure didn’t smell or taste like coffee. I could not drink it and told our server it was not coffee. She asked if she could bring me some from a fresh pot she was brewing. I politely declined a d asked for a glass of orange juice. We told out server we decided on breakfast and she told us that breakfast was over. I told her that she gave us breakfast menus and she said she would ask the owner/cook if she could still take a breakfast order. She came back 10 minutes later and said the owner said he would cook breakfast for us. I was hungry so I ordered the biggest breakfast on the menu which included a slice of Virginia ham, 2 sausage links, 2 eggs which I ordered over medium, home fries and 2 pancakes. My wife just asked for a bagel and cream cheese. Keep in mind by this time their was only 1 other table with a couple eating in the place. 10 more minutes went by and our food arrived. The orange juice was the rancid and watered down. It was the worst I ever tasted. The eggs were very runny, more like sunny up than over medium. I’ e had some great Virginia ham over the years, but not this time. It was almost half fat. The sausage was OK but then I got to the pancakes. These were the pre-made frozen kind you buy in the market. They were brittle and dry and even the syrup couldn’t soften them up to make them fit to eat. On the plus side, my wife’s bagel was toasted just right. She decided to just have a glass of water. I’ve been trying new restaurants for over 50 years and this goes down as THE WORST I’ve ever sampled. I’d be very surprised if this place lasts more than 6 months.

Todd Lam was our waiter, remarkable and professional, food was brought out very quickly and was correct, portions were moderately high enough to say almost twice the amount expected. I recommend stopping by,ask for Todd and things will be very relaxing.
