99 Restaurants

Finally after a long absence due to Covid I went to my favorite 99 Restaurant for lunch. Disappointing. 1. One of my favorite meals was the Turkey Club Sandwich and I have been ordering it forever. It was no longer available on the menu. 2. So, I ordered the Baked Stuffed Jumbo Shrimp instead. The meal itself was delicious but it was definitely not "Jumbo" shrimp on my plate as stated in the menu description. 3. The fries did not have the same texture or taste as before. It appears they changed the type of potato they use. Also, most of them were overcooked. 4. Their prices increased quite a bit but that is somewhat understandable right now with the cost of food the way it is. But the 99 did not maintain the quality I have always received there.

I ordered the Crise Chicken salad with honey mustard and an order of gold fever wings with extra gold fever sauce on the side. I received a crispy over done dry chicken tender salad with honey mustard dressing. Only one chicken tender was worth eating the others went in the trash. The gold fever wings were over done and no gold fever sauce on them at all. Extra sauce was in the side. This place has gone way down hill in my mind. Someone Didn’t get the order right even after repeating the order to me exactly as I ordered it.

Amazing salmon with rice and salad in Lowell at the end of Bruce Freeman Rail Trail. Great food for someone who has another 30-40 miles left and need some good source of energy for biking. They have dining out option which we chose. Staffs are very friendly and polite. My friends and I were all happy with our food items. It’s also a great place to just sit and chat.

Large bar area. Staff was friendly, service was reasonably quick, but we did have to wait 10 minutes for a table even though there were many empty booths. No free popcorn was offered, I miss that! The lighting scheme is a bit dark, so my husband had trouble reading the menu. (Note to self: always leave spare reading glasses in the car.) Overall it's comfortable, and clean, lots of sports memorabilia. The menu has gotten smaller, but still a great selection of dishes to choose from. Mediterranean bowl with chicken was very tasty. Buffalo chicken mac and cheese was heavy on chicken, light on mac but still awesome. They still do Buffalo wing specials at the bar on Thursdays, and appetizer specials too!

It's a fine place. Very classic and laid back. Big as well so it isn't likely to feel crowded. But I was a bit disappointed with the honey mustard chicken salad. The chicken was more a garnish than a part of the meal! Three measly chicken fingers! I was also disappointed by how small the serving of honey mustard was, but I have to admit it was actually quite concentrated and ended up lasting me the whole meal. Although it doesn't have too much going for it, if you're looking for classic and standard American fare, it's hard to go wrong with the 99.

So, I went here with 9 other people after a bowling tournament. I ordered a bowl of broccoli & cheddar soup as an appetizer. I asked for croutons & shredded cheese on the side. I got 6 stale croutons & a slice of American cheese on the side like it was for a sandwich! Unfortunately that ruined the rest of the experience.
