Some friends and I went there for lunch recently. The food was delish and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The staff were wonderful too. Such a nice break during a busy work day. Will definitely be making a return visit soon. ��

You can't beat the atmosphere or the service at Boomer's. A cozy and relaxed environment where you are treated like family. A basic menu done well. I love the grilled cheese, chicken salad sandwich, tuna salad sandwich, as well as the tomato soup. Good conversation, reasonable prices (especially for downtown), and a satisfying lunch. For dessert, you are always given a "Boomer's Treat" (a York peppermint), but there are also delicious chocolate chip cookies available if you so choose.

I have to travel to Louisville two or three times a year for work, and every time I visit, no matter what my schedule may be like, I make it a point to go to Boomer's Canteen. The food is wonderful, but the people are the reason I go. I was in earlier today, and the owner recognized me from a stop six months ago. Steve, the waiter, will serenade you while you eat, and goes above and beyond to be prompt and courteous. I very highly recommend Boomer's to anyone visiting the Museum Row area or simply passing through Louisville.

Grandma's house, downtown!. This is such a great place. We'd somehow missed it even after visiting Louisville and hitting up the science museum many times in the past few years, but I'm so glad we stopped in yesterday. Imagine your southern grandma turned her house into a restaurant. That's Boomer's. You can even sit in an upholstered, comfy chair and watch TV while you eat on a tray table! Or, sit at a real dining room table with your family or friends in a room complete with all the kitschy touches you'd find at a beloved family member's house.
Beyond the super-comfy atmosphere, this place is clean, affordable, and incredibly friendly. The owner and our excellent waiter Steve, were on a first name basis with our kids by the time we left. They even put our extra chips in a bag for our car trip back home to Cincinnati.
The menu is very basic, and you fill it in yourself. The chili is excellent and bit spicy. Burgers aren't handmade, but not bad, and fit the bill just fine for the kids. There's a hot dog and a grilled cheese option, too. They also have specials each day. Yesterday was homemade meatloaf or fried bologna sandwiches. All things considered, the food is fine, not gourmet, but not too greasy, either.
If you're hitting up museum row with your family, this is such a great choice for lunch or dinner. If Steve is there, you're really in for a treat! Ask him about his school days alongside Mohammed Ali (or Cassius, as he remembers him).

Great Home-Cooked Food. We toured the Louisville Slugger factory then celebrated my sister's birthday with a late lunch. All the food was fantastic but the service was even better. We even had a personal "Happy Birthday" serenade at the end of our meal. How perfect is that?! We'll definitely come back next time we're in Louisville.
Great people! So friendly!! Every lunch comes with a tasty fruit cup served when you sit down. Simple meals made to order. Don't pass up the dessert!! I always visit the museums and then head to Boomer's for lunch when I'm in town.
Awesome Family Friendly Cafe!. Our family dined here on a recommendation from the receptionist at the Louisville Museum. We couldn't have been more impressed with the food and the the hospitality showed to my family was what one might expect from a $100 a plate dinner place. The owner and staff were amazing. We tell everybody we know to go to the Louisville Slugger Museum, the Science Center across the street and most importantly...BOOMERS!
Fun place. Great service with nice lighter side menu for lunch. Cod special was really nice, crispy and no "soggy" inside. Coleslaw was very nice traditional style. Sweet pickles and few hush puppies on the side. Nice place in a real fun part of town.
My husband and I are visiting the area and decided to stop by here for a quick lunch. The food was delicious but the hospitality was phenomenal! Loved talking to the owner and hearing her adorable story behind Boomer, the best beagle ever! If you are in the area from 11am until 2pm, make sure to stop in for a visit!

What a quant place! We came in shortly before closing and they were so welcoming. The two ladies who greeted us walked us through the menu and were so hospitable. The food was amazing. FRESH comfort food! Freshest tomatoes we've ever had on a burger. And the tomato soup is a MUST. I've never had better. This place is a must if you are touring the Louisville Slugger factory. We will definitely be back!

We stumbled upon this gem today while walking around Louisville. The staff are so friendly and sweet! The menu is very limited, but the food is really good! We will definitely eat here again if we're ever back in Louisville.

OMG the absolute BEST place to get food in Louisville.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The owner is the nicest person you will ever meet! The food is AMAZING and at a great price. You get to fill out your own menu and if you want you can put your name at the top mine was “The Kid”. Even when you are finished you can stay as long as you like and you get BOOMER TREATS witch are little York peppermint patties! The owner will tell you a story about Boomer her 🐶
Spending the day in Louisville and happened upon Boomers. The owners and staff were so kind, like we were guests in their home...because, of sorts, you are. The food wasn't over the top but certainly sufficient and we definitely we got our money's worth. Seating for our family of 8 wasn't a deal either.
I happened upon this place because I was out walking around clearing my head. I thought it was a cornerstore and I just wanted to check it out. The owner was so sweet and we started to talk about her dog and I began to cry about mine. She then gave me a kleenex and invited me to sit and have a cup of coffee. Seriously the sweetest thing she could have done. I will always remember her thoughtful and kind heart and wish all of the best to this quaint business off of Main Street.
Just happened to wander in here one day on a hungry lunch break and was blown away by Boomer's. Burger and fries were outstanding and the staff here clearly make service and friendliness a top priority. Boomer's is a breath of fresh air in quality and comfort. 11 out of 10. Bring cash.
