We were married 2yrs ago today in Chicago, so we decided to give this place a try for our anniversary dinner. Delicious food (Italian beef sandwich was awesome), friendly staff and the photos on the wall made us feel like we were in Chicago. Couldn't have picked a better place to celebrate our anniversary!
Wish we'd visited this place sooner, we will definitely be back!

Love Lonnie's… Having lived in downtown Chicago 19.5 years, trust me when I say Lonnie knows what he's doing. Only wish he was closer to Middletown, would be there every week!
Fantastic! Great owners too! They absolutely nail the dog! I used to live in Chicago and they are authentic to the core. Parking is a little limited and the dining room is a little cramped. But the food is great
Have been here for lunch a few times and the place itself is not much to look at--small sitting area. But the food and service was pretty good. No idea how authentic the food is but not a bad lunch spot.
Great Food. Great Place! Owners are Awesome People! and the Italian beef and sausage combo with peppers... The best I have had. Make sure and check their hours though, once you eat here you will be craving Lonnie's and realize they are only open till 7!
This place is awesome. We will be back very soon. Customer service was unbelievable. My wife and I's first time there, and the owners (working the counter) have us samples. We always love going into a new place and asking the chef what he recommends. We believe if they give the bet and it's not good, well you we won't be back. However, Lonnie's Taste of Chicago was great. The beef was out of sight. Lots of peppers the way we like it. Chili and beef dog are also out of here. The best thing of all are the prices. We walked away pay less than $14 for the big bef sandwich, beef dog, fries, and 2 sodas. We will be back!!!!
While my dh, dd,dd2, &ds really enjoyed the hot dogs...I tried the italian beef with hot peppers and it is hands down the best I've ever had. The restaurant was clean and tidy despite it's tired first impression. The staff was incredibly warm and friendly, I can't wait to go back!
Best burgers and dogs in town. Lonnie and Diane are two of the friendliest people I've met and also happen to make the best burgers and dogs imaginable. Anytime I have friends in from out of town I always make sure to take them to Lonnie's. One of my buddies said it was hands down the best burger he'd had in his life and I would believe it. From the cheese dog to the gyros to the chocolate cake, you can't go wrong.

Top Notch. Everything on their menu is delicious and served fresh - hot dogs, polish sausages, burgers, hot wings, fries, etc. The place is always spotless and the atmosphere is always upbeat and friendly. We waited a couple of years to try this place and regret not visiting sooner. One of our favorites!
Very good chili cheese dogs made by Lonnie himself. Family run business and very friendly hotdog was tasty but of course, sloppy to eat as one would expect. I enjoy the crinkle fries and they do have soft drinks, but no sweet tea and no free refills. I thought the price was very reasonable for my lunch. I look forward to going back again with a few friends for lunch.
I can’t even put into words how absolutely delicious these were. So much so that I finished them in the parking lot, went back in and got 2 more 😩

Great food, fantastic atmosphere. They have some of the best Italian beef since I've been in Chicago. Cheese fries are great and so are the sausage.
Lonnie's is a great little gem in Louisville. Its no frills atmosphere is exactly what one would expect of a hot dog joint. Lonnie is always playing a great soundtrack of blues, Motown, or funk music while he's cooking. The food is delicious. Authentic Chicago dogs and Italian beef. I have heard from others that their hamburgers are good too. If you want some comfort food or hanker for a Chicago dog, Lonnie's is the place.
I had been looking for some place local that has a great Chicago dog. I happened to spot this place one day driving and not listening to my GPS. I told my wife and kids about it and we made it a point to stop in and see Lonnie. We were not disappointed. I am all about supporting small businesses, and Lonnie will be getting more of my business. If you love Chicago and supporting small businesses, stop in and check out one of Louisville's best kept secrets.
Lonnie's is amazing. The test the flavor the texture it all just perfect. They are so nice and kind hearted. I work just down the street from them and I always stop every so often to get something to eat. I normally just pick something random off the menu as it's all good to eat.
The service was fine other than the chef having a bit of an attitude when I asked if an order was mine and couldn't hear due to difficulty of hearing. It's a small place. Nice atmosphere for most part. Family member found hair in their food.
Delicious food. Very very crunchy amazing onion rings. We got two different hot dogs, onion rings, and chili cheese fries and everything was perfect.

Over the holidays Fat Man Reviews found its way to Lonnie's Best Taste of Chicago in Louisville, KY. Lonnie's serves Chicago-style food such as hot dogs, hamburgers, beef sandwiches and have been around since 2001.
I decided to try a Clark Street Hot Dog or more commonly known as a Chicago dog. This is a pure beef dog served on a steamed poppy seed bun with yellow mustard, piccalilli relish, fresh chopped onions, tomato wedges, cucumbers, sport peppers, and celery salt. The dog has a great snap to the casing and was grilled to perfection. The bun was soft, and the veggies added a great texture and taste to the entire experience. The sport peppers added heat and the relish was bright green and sweet. I only wish I ordered extra relish as it was delicious.
I also had Spicy Beef sandwich, extra wet. It came with sliced Italian beef in au jus garnished with a hot, spicy sauce along with hot peppers on a roll. The roll was soft and soaked in au jus, the hot peppers were crunchy and spicy, the sauce is a mustard type of sauce that is spicy with a hint of sweetness. The beef is juicy, tender and sliced thin. This is a wonderful sandwich and I wanted another one when I was finished.
My fiancé tried a Congress Cheese Dog. This is a pure beef dog served on a poppy seed bun, smothered with hot melted cheese and celery salt. Again, the snap and grilling was great, the bun was soft, and the cheese was awesome. It reminded me of cheese whiz but better. Another great dog.
She also tried a 3" Baby Beef sandwich, wet. It comes with Sliced Italian beef in au jus served on a 3-inch roll, and she added hot peppers (optional). Just like the sandwich before it was great, and the peppers are a must. I like mine extra wet, but normal wet is great too.
Lonnie's Best Taste of Chicago is a small joint with very little seating. It is run by a wonderful husband and wife team that just make great food. They are open 6 days a week but will post on Facebook when they are closed. Lonnie's Best Taste of Chicago is Fat Man Approved and highly Recommended.
