Review Checkers Downtown - Los Angeles

Protesters across the street were extremely annoying.

What a beautiful room. All new and fresh. Pretty bedding, great paint job including crown moulding, fresh carpet and new heavy room darkening drapes and sheers. There was a setee at the end of the bed and a work desk/chair. So many light fixtures that there was great illumination. Big screen tv worked great. Walk in closet. Bathroom had real stone and marble floors. There was no mold or mildew. I was really impressed. The in and out valet parking was wonderful with attentive staff. What a great experience to stay at a downtown hotel where it is top notch and in a great location, walkable to financial district.

Stayed here for 2 weeks on a work trip, and recommend it. Room was great, small issue with safe was sorted immediately. I got lucky with a top floor room with a view. Staff were welcoming when we arrived from the airport for check-in at 1am. Food is a bit expensive but that's probably a DTLA thing over anything else.

The bartenders are friendly and attentive, we ordered a few goblets of wine, petite noirs a lovely, smooth, and nice to the palate reserve from Oregon. We order it every time there. The accommodations are excellent; clean rooms, supplied well with towels, toiletries, etc. As well as the other guests are friendly. Wonderful place to stay. By the way theres a deck where a jacuzzi is available and tables to enjoy the view and conversation. I will be back !

The checkers has a really nice rooftop. They have a hot tub up there on the roof and a good area to sit and smoke. The restaurant and bar downstairs has really good food with an extensive menu of seafood. The location is walking distance from everything downtown including the Staple Center and many malls. I really like their beds I don't feel like they were new but the bedding was better than a lot of hotels I've stayed in.

(3.5) Typical standard fare for a hotel restaurant. The inside is well done, very clean and updated. The food, was perfectly acceptable for hotel food. My salmon was great but the quesadilla was just normal... Service was excellent and it's definitely not too busy at lunch time.

The single best $22.00 hamburger ever.

Excellent fine dining restaurant down town. I had an amazing sea bass before we got a complementary town car to the opera. The food is well thought out and seasonal. The decor is a little dated but classic. The service is impeccable.

I was in a conference room they had very nice pastries and great coffee. Seems like a great place for me to stay at another time.

Great bartender. I forget her name right now...Amanda? I'm not sure, but she made a great drink and handled a loudmouth pot stirrer really well.

View, 10! Service, 10! Food, 3. Too bad, since it was Mother's Day Brunch. Ah, well. Dessert and coffee were good, and the sparkling sunshine on the rooftops of DTLA was magnificent.

Had lunch at Checkers and must confess the food was very good. Shrimp risotto was very tasteful and presented nicely. Sit in the court yard outside it is quite, comfortable and cozy. Very good restaurant in downtown LA!

Valet service Superb breakfast selection Late check out available Bar and restaurant in the hotel Concierge services Well lit, designed, and located Several shops, bars, clubs, restaurants, food trucks w/n a mile Heart of downtown Walking distance to the Staple Center Banks and Atms close by Parking is high but worth it. There is street and garage parking but you pay each time you move your vehicle. So, if you don't plan on driving, garage the vehicle. Uber/Lyft availability Gym Pool Business areas Conference room A celebrity hotel Bed/pillows are comfortable Nice views from upper level rooms

This little boutique spot across from the famous Biltmore was within walking distance to several good restaurants, the Last Bookstore full of treasures and the Belasco Theater as well. Pricing is well within reason and the rooftop view at night is stunning. Highly recommended!

Always wanted to try Checkers ...was very underwhelmed... Front desk staff were very sterile ...no warm happy feelings there. Room was just ok, had much better accommodations at other Hilton's and actually better at Hampton Inn properties. Room view overlooked air conditioning units on the next building and had no esthetic value .... The hotel was within walking distance the restaurant we wanted to visit, the neighborhood was very sketchy for the two blocks we walked for dinner ... (Not recommended walking after dark in that area) Breakfast was served in the on site restaurant , consisting of a small plate of fruit and a choice of toast , coffee included in the room charge .. The waiter was ok except he placed a receipt folder on the table and informs us " You May Place Your Tip In Here" Like he was worried he would not be left anything ... The only person who was actually kind and smiling was the woman at check out ...very nice person ... Lastly the parking of $48.43 was insulting for the location .. Double tree 3 blocks away was half that rate for valet. Checkers may be a cute boutique hotel but not worth the the money.. Double Tree by Hilton just blocks away equally priced was a much better value with a totally better feel and really had atmosphere missing at Checkers ...

This hotel is absolutely incredible! My experience was amazing from valet all the way to check out. The decor is lush. The hotel staff members were extremely helpful and caring. They even go as far as sending you a text message to follow-up with your experience. The room was spacious and flawless. I was impressed and extremely satisfied. One of the best stays I've ever had within the Hilton Hotel group.

Beds was not as advertised. Dark rooms with a little option of light. Baths ceiling was dirty. Valet service ok, abit expensive.

Customer Service was horrible. Employees looked unhappy and they looked constipated when asked a question. The elevator situation was confusing. The Parking garage was away from Hotel. There was NO Kleenex. Never been to a hotel where Kleenex wasn't provided. Beds were old spring mattresses with a padded mattress cover on it. Shower tub had man hair in it. Carpet was old. The hot tub situation was a problem. Closed by 10. No real good reason for it. It's outdoors on the rooftop. No one to bother and security was on site. But whatever. The city is dirty and smells like a dirty urinal. I hated it!!! Easy 8 hotel hands down much more comfortable. This Hilton sucked and was disappointing.

The hotel and the rooms are nice, but the front desk staff bring down the rating a lot. Never smiling, not very friendly. Not very helpful or knowledgeable. Doormen and security are very nice though. Not so great food options and restaurant doesn’t open for dinner until 530. I’ve stayed twice thinking first time I’ll give them a pass..but this time they couldn’t locate my car then couldn’t locate my keys. Was late for work. They got me a ride to and from where I needed to go and did not charge me for parking but I won’t be staying at this location again because the “face” of this hotel (front desk staff) need a whole makeover.

Its downtown. The room is business quality. Not great for a couple and not a 5* hotel. Asked for silverware an hour ago at midnight. It went to another room. Hope the people in that room were awake cause the front desk said " sorry we sent that to 1204. Sorry about that." I'm an Honors member and wouldn't stay again.

Nice. Smallish rooms but everything else was great. Nice location.

One of DTLA's vintage greats! Successfully modernized. Excellent service. Perfect location. Nice lounge. Not huge...rather quaint. Rooms are smaller, but nicely appointed (ask for North facing with corner windows (due to the design of the building there are loads of them!)....6th or higher.) And you get Hilton points!

View was amazing ! Got complimentary breakfast coupons, a little outdated overall nice location !

This classic hotel has all the original charm and added modern feature we have come to expect from American hotels. I love everything about this hotel. Staff is 5 star, bar is darling and my dinner was delicious with amazing presentation. Staying when I can! Love love
