Review Bossa Nova Brazilian Cuisine - Los Angeles

Came here on a Thursday night (which may have been why it wasn't super busy), but I was seated right away. The service was good ans fast, the food was excellent, and the overall atmosphere set by the lighting and music made for a very relaxing, vibrant, and enjoyable dinner. I ordered the picanha with black beans, garlic mashed potatoes (if you ask they will add garlic to their mashed potatoes!), and roasted vegetables. Everything was excellent. I highly recommend if you are in the mood for a Brazilian steakhouse.

Went for post show food with a large group of 12 - all delicious! I ordered the vegetarian mushroom bowl and it was v satisfying. Truffle fries and plantains are also extremely yummy - plantains are some of the best Ive ever had!

Eating here was a sheer delight. The flavors were almost soothing bathing my palette. There was also a freshness reminiscent of farm-to-table dining. Don't believe me, try it for yourself.

I’ve been here before and the experience was meh but this time around was SOOOO much better. We had to ask for help upon entrance since no one was at the front desk but we received help immediately. The waiter was very kind. He made sure that everything we ordered was correct and tasty. We really loved our drinks and food. We will be returning. Thank you for your services. The restrooms are clean.

First time there and loved it. Had the pizza and my sister had a plate. Both delicious. Banana pastry dessert was super yummy. Sat toward the front but never heard the traffic noise. Definitely going back.

The food was honestly very good, I ate a pasta and my friends asked for a plate of chicken, a salad and a sandwich, everything was full of flavors, I wanted to try a pasta and I am not disappointed, the portion was adequate and I left very satisfied. Hope to return soon

I came here with a friend of mine and someone who is like a grandmother to us. We had the BEST time. First off - they greeted us so kindly. We had to wait a bit for our table but the time went by so fast because they were so nice to us. When we finally sat down I was OVERWHELMED with the options. It's a large front and back menu that has endless possibilities. There are many options for meat and seafood lovers, as well as vegetarian and vegan preferential eaters such as myself. I had their fried plantains and truffle fries - both incredibly delicious. I decided on one of their bowls which had great proportions and was flavorful. My friend had salmon and our "grandmother" had the fettuccine alfredo. To top it all off we shared the New York cheesecake and even got one to go because it was that delicious. My only regret is not taking pictures! We were so hungry and ate too fast, it completely skipped my mind. Next time I will! UPDATE: I took pictures this time and went with a larger group. Still had a great time.

As a brazilian, this restaurant deserves 5 stars. Diversity and creativity. There's a good caipirinha de caju I would never imagined getting here in US. I will go to Bossa nova again sooner.

I don’t think you could order the wrong thing here. The hardest part of our visit was deciding what to get now, and what to save for our second/third/fourth visits. The garlic bread, chicken, black bean soup, plantains, everything exceeded expectations magnificently. Definitely a must-visit.

I was told about Bossa Nova from a friend when I expressed that I was visiting LA. It was worth trying out. The atmosphere was great! The food was amazing! I had the Cajun blackened shrimp platter. There’s not a full bar there but that was fine by me. So worth it!

The staff at the Sunset location are rude & very unprofessional. Our 1st waiter took the menu out of my friends hand before she even finished ordering her meal. We asked for bread while we wait and the waiter told us none was ready but that he did put in an order for us. We didn't mind waiting because we thought that meant fresh hot bread but I guess not because 10 mins later, we received a basket of cold, hard, stale bread. The 2nd waitress brought our check to our table before they even made our food. Then she kept returning back to our table demanding payment. In so many words she said if we didn't pay for our food upfront then they wouldn't prepare it. We then decided to ask for our food to go instead and we requested to pay separately at the register. The waitress immediately declined and said we had to keep the check for a party of 4 together. Her tone was arguementative, she was rolling her eyes and she looked extremely annoyed to be at work. For years I have been supporting the other Bossa Nova locations, Pico and Robertson. Sunset I've only visited twice but after last night I will never visit any of them again. I will also tell all of my friends and family not to either. Great food spoiled by disgusting service and attitude.

I usually pass by the place at early dark morning after a movie for its delicious meat or seafood stroganoff with fried plantains.

I have been a long time patron for over 10 years, and the quality of food has always remained consistent. Great employees, who are attentive on a very busy Friday night, and the food is fantastic for casual dining! Easy recommendation!

We have been dining here a lot and the food is excellent. Whenever we have visitors we always have the restaurant on our list unless they want to try something else.

I'm visiting from Texas and was referred there. I miss say the environment was quite laid back and the service was really good. Only downside to it was parking but overall very good.

Had it delivered through Door Dash. The food was hot and still wonderful. Steak cooked right. The black beans, rice, plantains, bell peppers and pico de gallo tasted great! I want more!

A very nice meal

This is a neighborhood restaurant that serves wonderful food. We ate here on a Sunday in July, 2018 based on the TA ratings. We were not disappointed. We shared appetizers of shrimp croquette and another similar one and had mains of grilled shrimp and steak. All of the food was outstanding and the caipirinhas were just right. My only complaint is that eating outside, we were annoyed by people hanging around in front of the restaurant. Next time, we will eat inside.

DO NOT GO TO THIS RIP OFF RESTAURANT!!! We had a dinner for six (6) there and they included the tip automatically but did NOT tell me. Then I added about 20% tip. I noticed this after I got home...I called the restaurant and told them (but in a nicer way) that obviously their server was trying to scam tips by not informing me that the tip was already included in the bill. They told me that only the server could decide if they would refund the auto gratuity...Huh? They said they would discuss it with them and call me back which they never did either. The service was OK but how they could think it was worth almost a 40% tip??? BEWARE - DO NOT EAT HERE because if they will rip me off what else are they doing there to you?

TRY THIS PLACE!!! Tasty food, huge portions, low prices (especially at lunch time), and a menu that is full of choices. What more could you ask for? I love it!
