Review Versailles Restaurant - Los Angeles

Abdulkarim ALZarouni
Versailles is a charming Cuban restaurant that brings a slice of Havana right here to Los Angeles. I recently dined here and had an overall delightful experience. The ambiance instantly transports you to Cuba with its vibrant design and lively atmosphere. It's the perfect place for a casual evening out with friends or a cozy dinner with loved ones. The menu offers a variety of Cuban classics, and I was particularly impressed with their traditional Cuban authentic taste. If you're in the mood for Cuban cuisine, Versailles is definitely worth a visit. It's a culinary journey to Cuba, right in the heart of Los Angeles.

Let me just start by saying I LOVE Cuban food! Was my first time trying this spot and I damn near ate the plate that my order came out on lol. I tried the Ropa de viejo (favorite of mine) and it was tender, well seasoned and had just the right amount of veggies and sauce. The entire meal was pretty good and very satisfying. Gotta shoutout the sandwich I tried as well! The Bisteck sandwich was delicious and it came with some really good fries. The mango smoothie was creamy and mildly sweet. Loved it. It's a quaint, small restaurant that has that mom N' pop feel. The staff were friendly, the music was good and the establishment was clean and has its own little section in the parking lot. Definitely coming back!

This was my first time here. As soon as you walk in, you are able to feel the great atmosphere at this place. The staff had a lot to do with it because they are awesome. The food here is very tasty and has great flavor. I will be returning very soon.

Authentic food and atmosphere. Perfect seasonings and recipes! Delicious and concentrated in flavor! Chicken is as good as advertised. Great Cubano as well.

In A Nutshell: -This Versailles located here in L.A. is actually a good Cuban restaurant. -The first thing I asked when I sat down was if this was affiliated w/ the Versailles restaurant I always eat at in Miami & the answer was "no". -This restaurant has good customer service, it felt like a family. -We ordered their Whole Red Snapper which for $35 felt like a pretty good deal. -We also ordered their Vaca Frita (Cuban Crispy Shredded Beef). -Both orders come w/ a side of black beans & rice. -The whole fish was really delicious, crispy on the outside & moist white meat inside. -The beef was a nice portion, enough to take some home for leftovers. -You also get plantains for your meals so those strike a nice balance of adding sweetness. Overall, this is a good restaurant to eat at if you are in the mood for Cuban food. Great value & service!

My go to meal here is the Lechon (roasted pork) with black beans, white rice and fried sweet plantains. It's ALWAYS YUMMY and hasn't changed in nearly 40 years of coming here!! We get the family size so we can have leftovers, too!!

Looks like they are in the middle of a remodel/refresh. Has been consistently good for a number of years. Garlic chicken is a must have and tastes amazing. Fried plantains are so good, order extra. Black beans are perfectly prepared and spiced. Parking can be tight in the lot. They have a bar that appears to be fully stocked. Seating in booths or at tables. Very cute area to eat outside. Highly recommended.

Huge portions, bold flavors, and welcoming waitstaff. What more could you want from this LA landmark. It’s a SoCal institution that’s mandatory for any resident or tourist. Get yourself some garlic chicken and buy a bottle of the sauce on your way out!!

Oxtail stew and garlic chicken, their most popular items! Served with plantains and black bean soup. Hearty meal. Not the cheapest but well worth with the quantity and most all top quality. Perfectly cooked, soft meat and tender chicken. Service is also top notch.

First time I ate there I was hooked I have been eating at this restaurant since they opened if I remember correctly early 1980. Thank you for keeping the quality of food consistent. Don’t forget great service n the owner is super friendly.

Hubby and I have loved the food at this restaurant (and other locations in LA and the Valley)since we started dating 20+ years ago. Even back then, the place drew crowds! This particular location is unassuming, not trendy or fancy-looking BUT that doesn't matter! The FOOD is what matters! Tasty, authentic, generously portioned and consistently good --- their meals area a hungry person's salvation from boring cuisines! Food here sticks to your bones and feeds the soul just as well. I've never had servers here with bad attitudes, just attentive, friendly and efficient ones. The fried plantains and Versailles famous chicken dish has never disappointed!

Got the Bistec De Pollo (Grill'd Chicken Steak) and it was delicious. A lot of food, might be good for 2.

My friend and I came here for lunch. The reason I came was because I wanted to try their highly recommended ox tail. The ox tail didn't disappoint and it tasted great. We also ordered the signature chicken and it also tasted good. The general atmosphere was warm and the servers were pleasant. The interior and deco definitely showed sign of age. I felt their food portion and presentation did not justify the price they were charging though. There is a parking lot in front of their restaurant so people shouldn't have problem finding a parking there.

Delicious Cuban food served by friendly folks. A nice variety of dishes with a specialty of yummy garlic chicken. Good cocktails and vegetarian options too. Not a romantic restaurant, just good food at reasonable prices.

This place has awesome food. The garlic chicken is the best,I had it with garlic rice, very tasty. The ropa Viejas is really good too. The service was great. I did not eat there,we walked in ordered food to go,and didn't have a super long wait. I love this place. And oops!🙀🤯ate everything, forgot to take pics. Definitely recommend this place.

Yummy, huge portions. Get the #6 Famoso Garlic Half Chicken with Black Beans and Rice (order non mixed and mix yourself). Sweet servers too!! Love this place!

Food was okay, not too flavorful, but palatable. I had the #6 which is chicken with a side of plantains, rice and beans. The portions are quite big and possibly shareable depending on your appetite. The service was great, server checked up on us multiple times. There is nothing special with the atmosphere, just an average diner.

Words can not describe how amazing the food is at this special place. It was one of the best meals I have had in LA ever. My Mom makes many of the traditional meals so I am aware of how it should taste. I think the Ropa Vieja is MUY delicioso, and on point 100%! Mojito was very good (*Sugar cane was a special touch, and for anyone who is Latino, we can always use more Rum). Platanos Maduros were perfect! Arroz con Pollo was good (we use olives in Panama for salt), may have needed a bit more salt. Yucca Frita served with green sauce and vinegar (Gringos use Ketchup in Panama). I should have ordered un cafecito. Thank you to the nice staff. Our 19 year old Sun who is here visiting us from France was very happy, as was Papa, and Mama. Mil Gracias! We will be back as soon as possible! Much love from the French & Panamanian - American family.

Great service & really good food. Never had a bad experience. Prices are reasonable. A family style restaurant. The garlic chicken is amazing. There’s something on the menu for everyone. Plenty of parking. Every time I pass by there is always a crowd, a sign that it’s a great place to eat . Try it you will love it .

I like the unique Cuban food. I sometimes go for anything involving beef & the chicken soup. Sadly, the calamari steak was discontinued. I don't drink the black bean soup for health reasons. Plus, the waiters are friendly.

I didn't realize how hungry I actually was until I sat down to eat. Ate my entire meal (which was a big portion of rice and chicken) in about 8 minutes. Being hungry and the food being great was a dangerous combination for me. I'm Puerto Rican. I grew up on sweet plantains. The sweet plantains here were PERFECT!!!!! it's super loud in here but we didn't care. I live in Phoenix and I never leave LA without eating here.

I went for my birthday and it was delicious!!! I had the famous garlic chicken with the yellow rice. I would definitely recommend this place. I love the atmosphere and the waiters were kind.

My Aunt treated us here, as she loves to because we visit from Utah. This time I had the BBQ chicken sandwich and it was so good! The waiter was very friendly and on top of things. We can't wait to go back!
