Review The Tasting Kitchen - Los Angeles

We opted for the Chef’s Menu. It was five courses with two dishes in each course. Every course was better than the previous. And the dessert🤤. Staff were all very attentive and kind. This place is such a good deal for the location and amount of food

Went there on a Wednesday night and it was packed. The drawing on chalk is interesting and should definitely give it a read. There is no menu for diner and the chef will decide what to cook and customize the proportion for each table. The ribs are my favorite and they are tender with rich flavour, they don’t taste dry or greasy, which is a perfect balance. People also like the steak which was tender. The chocolate pie at the end was smooth and not so sweet, which is my personal preference. The drinks were too strong in alcohol which didn’t undermine the overall performance of the meal. It could get chilly if you sit outdoor but they have heaters provided. Will definitely go again for diner.

This one of those restaurants that is so good me adding my two cents feels redundant. But folks lemme tell you, WOW! I had the puffed gnooc, the shrimp pasta and the nebiola. The appetizer was freshly made, a light fluffy pastry textured almost filo airy but thick to the mouth, in house cured meats and freshly made mozzarella buttered clouds... The pasta perfectly to the teeth, the sauce rich and satisfying with a creamy but not overwhelming as if each strains of pasto was coated 1by1. Bit spendy but you get what you pay for... I was here on Monday and back on Tuesday, thanks Josh for your suggestions and those scallops are memorable,!

Great location, wonderful setting and wine list. The food is good but beware that vegan options are VERY limited - only two items could be adapted on the menu, apart from sides. None of the pasta dishes can be made vegan which was disappointing. Overall a good experience and not crazy expensive for the ambiance.

At first I wasn’t sure what to make of this place I found the menu confusing. However our server soon cleared this up for us he spoke with such enthusiasm that we both opted for the 3 course tasting menu. We were not disappointed, it was surprisingly impressive and great value for money. We had three starters brought out to us, which were all really nice then we had three main course dishes. Finally dessert, I think was the nicest dessert I have ever had. I would highly recommend visiting here and trying the tasting menu. There was more than enough food for the two of us, both being foodies we absolutely loved the thrill of not knowing what we were going to get until it came to the table. Very exciting!

Our brunch here was phenomenal! I highly recommend! This place is gorgeous and roomy. There was no wait for us and no reservation required. The upstairs where we were seater had the coolest chandelier and a book section. Tables were beautifully set food arrived on time and tasted delicious. We also enjoyed their coffee. Our server was very observant and kind, gave us recommendations on best dishes. Greenery in this place was also delightful, music was calm and made the whole brunch experience so relaxing and satisfying! We are for sure coming back!

We had found that the combination of good food, attentive service and over-the-top decor made the dining experience at The Tasting Kitchen a great dining experience. It may not be an everyday kind of place because it’s kind of pricey, but great for a special occasion!

The Grapefruit was very unique tasting and the mint set it off wonderfully! You must try the Steak, Eggs, & Potatoes! Very tasty, wonderfully seasoned and melts in your mouth! I am in love with the Tasty Kitchen, Venice CA! You must find severs: Sadie & Haley's section! They are full of smiles and will make your day a brighter one! All the employees were wonderful and very much people pleasers!

Been here before for dinner and knew based on that experience that I had to be back for brunch. Based on the photos I already knew what I wanted before I came. Was pleasantly surprised when the sticky buns I ordered also could be made with bacon on top because I always enjoy a combination of sweet n savory. The bun was perfect. Doughy but not overtly sweet despite the caramel sauce with generous crispy, salty bacon. Will most definitely be back.

We went on a Friday night, it was fairly packed. Ordered the gnocco grotto with burrata and the salt roasted branzino. Two of their very famous dishes. I will order the branzino again, it's close to be as good as the seabass at Wally's (if you know you know) - I loved the place, amd I will be back for sure.

Stumbled into the well designed spot in the heart of Abbot Kinney. Staff was incredibly friendly and the food tasty but not predictable. The Zuni Chicken was off the charts good. Nice wine list.

My SO and I decided to do the Tasting Kitchen dinner which featured surprise courses chosen by the chef. Food was absolutely amazing, fresh, and filling. The outside sitting area was gorgeous with heaters at each table. Perfect and romantic.

First time here, I really enjoyed the food and ambiance. Highly recommend it.

Do the TTK Diner - many courses of the chef's choice. Excellent wine menu and great cocktails.

Great lunch, but a little bit pricy. The burger was yummy, but the waffles with chicken was even better! Wish I could go here for dinner because my friend said they have the best pasta and bread, next time I’m in LA!

Definitely order the Chicken and waffles!! ... we ordered the short rib hash too- was good but chicken n waffles was great

A delight to the taste buds!!!! Treat yourself!! The shishito peppers are the best I’ve ever had! The bread is fresh and house made. The cocktails are smooth and imaginative and the ambience is hip and relaxed. Don’t miss this gem.

Best Service so far !

While the food is excellent, the service and their hospitality is beyond fantastic. If u want to have great food and great atmosphere with superb service go to Tasting Kitchen.

It has a very good vibe, music a little to high but I think is too much expensive for the food. I tried one of the pastas and it was amazing but it wasn't enough food.

The last time I ran the Rock n Roll Half Marathon in LA was three years ago, when I had just moved to LA. I was excited to have it be my first run in my new home, and a half marathon at that. It was before my marathon racing days…my how time flies, haha. Making my rounds at the expo like a pro 😛

A 4.75 for me. Incredible Italian food in Venice, California. Although the atmosphere here is intimate, it can be rather loud. Love the exposed brick wall, reminds me of a restaurant in Manhattan's West Village.
Favorites - Bread & Butter | Radicchio Olives & Pecorino Salad | Salt Roasted Branzino | Tagliarini, Shrimp & Serrano | Bread Pudding | Money in the Bank Cocktail.

Check out my blog for a full review.

Don't waste your time on this restaurant! It's overrated w/ small servings and high prices, food was just ok , service slow and wine selection the worst I've seen anywhere! NO California wines and very measly pours on the marginal selection of wines by glass!

Sure was Tasty. Finally got in here after 2 yrs of trying. Not disappointed either! The service was outstanding, the interior way cool. Great LA restaurant scene. We were still a bit full from earlier lunch next door at Gjelina so we started with the duckliver pate and gnudi. Delicious. Tried a pasta (gigli with squash blossoms) that was quite good. Then dessert. I am a self-professed panna cotta expert and their panna cotta was at the top of any I have every had, period! The chocolate juniper cake with passion fruit sorbet will make you cry. These desserts are not to be missed!

The orange juice is phenomenal.

Overrated!. Ate here earlier this week and the food was just okay. I think the Tasting Kitchen is very overrated.

Outstanding food, Great Wine List. Who expected this in Venice Beach? Wonderful upscale, yet casual, atmosphere. Service was super friendly. Now, for the menu. What a great compilation of dishes. You can spend as much or as little as you want and I am confident the quality would be same across the board. The menu felt a little like I was in the Piedmont Region of Italy with a wonderful selection of unique homemade pasta dishes as well as beef, seafood, chicken, and lamb entrees. We started the meal with a selection of three cheeses and a wonderful bottle of Barbaresco. Followed this with the Scallop appetizer (sauteed in Limoncello and Fava Beans!) which was cooked to perfection and just enough Limoncello to create flavor without feeling as though you were sucking on a lemon. No easy task! We followed this with pasta main dishes of Tagliatelle with Pork and Peaches and also a Fennel Sausage Pasta. Both were excellently prepared with homemade fresh pasta. The Tagliatelle was simply sensational as the peaches had been completely cooked down to oblivion, except the faint taste, which when combined with the Pork was unforgettable. We completed the meal with a beautiful Piemonte desert wine and fresh Ricotta Cheesecake served with fresh peaches. Of particular note is the wine list. Not your ordinary list but rather a wonderful selection of unique wines from some of the most famous regions of Europe. Kudos to The Tasting Kitchen. I look forward to seeing you again and again on my trips to Los Angeles.

Fun for good LA scene. A little crowded and noisy. Reservations are a must. Great beautiful windows make the space feel very open except for the crowds huddled in the bar. Food was spot on and had everything from the sweetbreads to the lasganette bolongnase. Fork licking good. Mini donuts with figs was a to-die-for dessert!

Amazing Brunch. We were a table of nine and had the tasting menu for Brunch. There was so much food and everything was delicious! I'm from Georgia and think I may have had the best fried chicken I've ever tasted - It was the Chicken & Waffles brunch dish. We all eat out a lot and at great restauants and I can't wait to head back to The Tasting Kitchen. While we were there I saw two staff hand rolling ravioli with such percision and care that I can't wait to taste the pasta on my next visit.

A Taste of The Tasting Kitchen. The Tasting Kitchen on Abbot Kinney is a deliciously trendy restaurant that pushes the limits of your palate.

Chef Casey Lane, along with head bartender Justin Pike and pastry chef Brooke Mosley work together to create a menu which is both modern and nostalgic all at once.

The perfect example of this was the first course in the five course tasting menu I sampled, which began with a tomato bisque served in a small tea cup right out of Alice in Wonderland.

The next four courses were served family style, with the soup being followed by an array of comfort foods like rapini over lentils and sweet breads.

My favorite course of the night was by far the pastas! I had the good fortune of being at the table with a vegetarian, so along with a sublime Tagliarini pasta with squid and Serrano, I enjoyed a veggie Bolognese which as a major carnivore I never would have ordered.

The Meat course was a sampling of the land and the sea-with a melt in your mouth branzino and a lovely tender pork dish.

The last course, desert, was actually in two stages. The first “stage” was a tray of 3 deserts including a lemon napoleon with greens on top and an olive oil cake. These creations were the ultimate combination of sweet and savory which is why I think the second stage of desert focused only on the sweet. It was tray of freshly baked cookies which took be right back to childhood, and some chocolate covered honeycombs that must be what bees die for!

If you do not want to eat five courses, I recommend any pasta in the restaurant and a glass of wine from the sommelier (who PS also has a family guy character based on him!!!)

One of my favorite moments of the night actually happened when I was waiting for the bathroom, which is located right next to the kitchen. I supremely enjoyed watching the waiters in plaid shirts coming and going in such a relaxed manner that you feel like you’re being served a dinner made by your closest friends.

It’s all about simply luxuries at The Tasting Kitchen.

Fantastic. What an amazing restaurant! Definitely a favorite. Ask for chef recommended dishes. Had a fantastic pasta dish with spicy sauce...they change menu regularly but hopefully I'll have a chance to try it again. Even if they don't have it everything we ordered was delicious

Good Stuff.. Three of us created our own tasting menu but a three course or a five course tasting menu are available. We shared- oysters, escarole salad w/ pickled purple pearl onions and preserved lemons- needed more onions and lemon, squid ink pasta w/serrano- home run of the night, flatiron steak w/fingerlings and Brussels sprouts- steak was a very disappointing cut but the balsamic reduction was excellent, roasted chicken/mash and veg- simple but perfect, cocktail: English garden (gin/fennel/cucumber) a creative delight. This was a nice night out. Good food, great diversity on the menu. Noise level in the bar area is quite high. I would consider coming back and trying the pasta tasting menu. Service was very good at helping decipher a confusing menu.

Nestled away we almost missed it. Warm greeting...blueberry, clove martinis the best drink ever! Food was great. Service was above average. Can't wait to go back. Ps love the big clunky ice cubes. Fun!

Amateur Hour. I'll never know if the food is good or bad as a result of the most boorish behavior I've encountered in years by the so-called manager. Reservation for four made two weeks prior for the main room went ignored and the wannabe restauranteur made no effort to accommodate us.

Perfect vacation brunch. Comfy chair, yummy food, lively crowd, gracious service--nothing challenging, everything pleasant

... this is going to sound silly, but I think my fave of the three dishes was the bread and butter. The freshly baked bread was warm and pillowly, and with the salted butter slathered on, it was a dream to eat. I was so smitten I continued to eat the bread throughout the dinner, generously dunking it in the saffron cream sauce that the mussels came in and any other sauce I could find. What can I say? I'm a simple gal that hearts bread.

The atmosphere is fun; relaxed yet sophisticated, like a great dinner party at a friend’s beach house. And most importantly, the food is across-the-board excellent. You should start your meal with a cocktail or two. Bartender Justin Pike was named LA’s top mixologist last year and prepares killer libations such as the Staycation (tequila, watermelon shrub and soda), the Summer Assassin (bourbon, allspice, maple and cava) and Coco Joe’s Punch (a tiki-style drink w

Haiku Review: Boozy Sunday brunch. Seafood platter, fried chicken. Heavenly weekend.

Despite the brouhaha for the last 2 years , The Tasting Kitchen remained an elusive destination. Here, the weekend line's too long, weeknight's drive too tedious, random date night's too pricey. @TTKVENICE started serving brunch in early 2011, and reports trickled in meagerly and some people found a new opportunity to visit. TTKV's Casey Lane is an early adopter of the despotic menu, but the restaurant's FOH is playful enough, at least during daylight, to allow the picture above. And I'm glad. The Venice crowd can be so… I don't know.. What's the word? No, not smelly… judgemental? The spartan brunch menu is a bit austere, a bit cryptic, but don't let that discourage you. They don't bother with the typical 2 oeuves short order breakfast here. I mean, they wouldn't be able to charge $15/date just for 2 fried eggs (only $12) , so bette
