Good but Deafening
I enjoyed being able to customize my veggie burger with sauces and fixings like grilled pineapple. The restaurant must be popular because it filled to capacity and without sound deadening soft fixtures, it was hard to hear the person across the table.
Had a lovely burger here one of the best I have ever had.
One note of caution they say they cook to medium. Medium in the US is pretty much rare. So if you don’t like it bloody ask for well or check with the server first.
That being said we enjoyed the meal and the service was excellent. Met some of LAs finest there and took some photos with them which made the evening.
Great atmosphere, amazing meat and friendly staff
enjoyed every bit of it all!!! we had the burger with the crunchy onion rings and the mouthwatering salad!
Let me just say I really enjoyed the food and drinks here; there is a retro 50's vibe and I loved it I wish there were locations on he east coast
My Disneyland for burgers. Come here on a crappy day, take a bite out of these suckers, expect a happy dance immediately. (that is if you know how to build your burgers to make it taste zuhamazing). You can select your meat, size of your meat, sauce, type of cheese, up to four topppings, extra toppings for additional prices, and type of bread.
Starters:
Sweet potato fries (always) comes with horseradish mayo (so yums, but not spicy enough! still can't complain)
Garlic parmesan fries is yumsssss. so fattening but so yummmsss. GIT IT!
Burgers:
Every week they have a "market selection". They have an already built market special menu or you can select certain items from the special like meat, sauces, cheese, bread, etc. but would have to pay extra. My first The Counter experience was with the market selection meat- LAMB. O M G. I really wish they would have this as one of the regulars. Multiple foodgasms in your mouth!
If they don't have lamb, I usually order beef medium rare ( you can choose between 1/3lb, 2/3lb, or 1lb). I always get 1/3 because 2/3 is pretttty huge as is.
Toppings I always get:
PINEAPPLE (MUST)
SPROUTS
TOMATO
MIXED GREENS
extra toppings for additional price:
AVOCADO (the guacamole is really good too)
Sauces I have tried:
Basil Pesto (Yum)
Garlic aioli (good)
Horseradish mayo (yum)
Sundried tomato sauce (tastes like marinara)
Peanut sauce (Yuck)
Peanut butter (not on the menu but you can ask for 0.50cents if you want the xtra protein- trust it tastes amazing with your burger)
Ginger Soy Glaze (good)
Tzatziki sauce ( mediterranean style yogurt feta like creamy sauce with cucumbers.. probably good with lamb)
Chipotle aioli (good)
Buns:
First time I tried this place, I mistakingly ordered the Multigrain bun. It's good but it gets soggy wayy too quickly.
Always order English Muffin ever since. English muffin bread is not hard or crunchy (thought that goes through most people's heads).
So either go for the english muffin or the ciabatta.
The Counter is one of the better places in DTLA to have a Burger. Its delicious and the service if very efficient. One has an option to choose from a wide variety of ingredients, buns etc. I liked the concept, since I am very specific about what i want. Vegetarians also have a wide variety of options which is very encouraging. Its has a lively ambience with good seating arrangement, nice place to relax with friends, watch a game maybe and have excellent food. I am definitely coming back again.
Good burger, good atmosphere!. A large space, quality burgers, and the fact that you can customise and add just about anything makes it that much more fun. Good place to catch up with friends over a few drinks, for those a bit more health conscious i liked the fact that you could get your burger in a bowl, that is 'without' the bun but as a salad. Really tasty, and filling, the meat cooked medium rare. Its a good burger, but its not mind glowingly so, for something a bit more special id recommend Unami burger but all in all id give it a thumbs up.
Food good. Music good but too loud. Can't wait to come back for a banana foster shake that includes Myers dark rum and Stoli Vanil
I’ve tried fried cauliflower before but I can’t compare the taste to the Buffalo sauce they seasoned this one with. I will definitely come back for more and the tater tots that I didn’t choose because I have a weakness for chili cheese fries. P.s the chili fries was a perfect serving size for two people. I also love thin fries (McDonald’s style)!!! As for the burgers my friend customized hers to turkey on a gluten free bun topped with baby spinach, cucumber, red peppers, scallions, sautéed mushrooms and vegan cheddar cheese on the side. I went for one of their signature burgers: The counter with 1/3 all natural beef patty, lettuce, tomatoe, avocado, sautéed mushrooms, onion strings and garlic aioli!!!
First time at this restaurant and enjoyed our time there. It was calm and it had good burgers. We had the Serrano pepper burger and the turkey burger with sweet potato fries. We also enjoyed a refreshing sparking Mango drink. Lots of Healthy Food Choices! Bathrooms were cleaned.

Delicious salads. I had one that had quinoa, baby greens, cherry tomatoes, a vinaigrette dressing, burger, roasted red onions. & u can add 3.50$!!!! sides to your sandwich or salad. I went with onion strings, & beef chili BOTH delicious & an incredible value. Andres was a DELIGHT. Its a great place to hang out, great atmosphere , have some drinks, enjoy good food, big portions, great price.
If you are looking for a better burger experience, then the Counter may be for you. The burgers are treated right and made to order. Mine was perfectly medium rare as ordered and well seasoned. The ability to mix and match so many tasty options means everyone should be able to construct something to their liking. I highly recommend the flavors here, as it's all cooked well to your pen specifications. The one disappointment I experienced was that I could not order a lettuce wrap and had to are for a salad when counting carbs. Service can be a little slow but is usually worth the wait.
Ordered brownie with ice cream, create your own burger, a salad, brussel sprouts, and turkey chili. Every single item was so delicious. The brussel sprouts were incredible!! And they have amazing happy hour deals which is when I went from 4-7. The dessert I ordered is not on the menu Bc they are mostly famous for their floats etc. The service was also perfect and everyone I interacted with was very nice. I highly recommend this place. You can’t go wrong with anything you order.
Quality burger and fries, the chocolate shake was classic and tasty. Prices seemed reasonable for being in downtown L.A. (speaking as someone on a trip coming from the Midwest). Wish I would have tried the Impossible Burger, but a friend who did said it was very good.
Great vibes and great atmosphere totally worth the price. Waiter was attentive and kind. Definitely a great place for a drink and a burger. Check it out it's right in the heart of downtown LA.
This is one of the best burgers in LA. The meat was cooked exactly medium, which is rare to find places that can do that these days. You could feel that the meat itself is very high quality. The staff was very nice and took care of my order very quickly. Would definitely eat here again
Very nice & cozy place with excellent service ( friendly & fast ). Manager & staff will make sure you & your company are taking care of. I like the idea of building your own burger. A great selection of burgers on there menu. Different draft beers & great cocktails & reasonable prices I would definitely come back
I really enjoyed the Beef and Blue burger,it was amazing!!!! I also had the parmesian fries, also very good!!! Thanks for the great experience!!! Mr.FreeTx
