Hadn’t been here in 40 years and not much has changed (good thing). Coffee is no longer .10 a cup but now .46…lol. Sandwiches are still great, my daughter had the lamb and it was delicious!! I dad to get the roast beef as that’s what I remembered and it didn’t disappoint. The one thing that was a let down was the banana cream pie.. just ok. Everything else was very good and still a great value

Don’t miss this place if you’re near. The dipped beef and lamb sandwiches were so delicious. Highly recommended the lamb. Very juicy and tasty. Ask for the free dip sauce if they forget to offer you.

Phillipe’s. Is a legend in Downtown Los Angeles! Located across the street from Union Station, the place is still the same as it was 25 years ago. You stand in line to order, then take your sandwich and drinks on a tray to your table- either a private booth or community table. French dips in Beef, Lamb, ham, turkey or pastrami can be Dipped, Double Dipped or Wet. Great sides, drinks and desserts. It’s worth the effort, close to China town. Plenty of free parking!

A local favorite with history, this diner is famous for their French-onion dipped sandwiches. Very popular location with long lines, but it moves very fast. A good pit stop after a game at Dodger Stadium. No AC so it can get stuffy on a hot day, especially upstairs. Big location with lots of seating. The sandwiches are strongly flavored—beef is well cooked and marinated. Not something I'd eat often but I can see the appeal!

Came in around 2pm on a Saturday and place was packed, line was pretty long. Luckily my wife saw that we could order online and pick it up, so she ordered while we looked for a spot to sit. Took about 20 minutes for order to be done, was a lot nicer than standing in line, not sure if it was faster, but it was definitely more comfortable. The sandwich was really good, also had a side of chili, which was pretty good as well. Definitely would recommend this place.

In 1918, in the process of making a policeman a sandwich, Mathieu accidentally dropped the sliced french roll into the roasting pan, which was filled with hot juices from the oven. The policeman said he’d still take the sandwich and left. The next day, the same policeman returned with some friends asking for more dipped sandwiches. The rest they say is history. This place is ridiculous. A true institution. No negatives, no disappointments. No hype. A true and classic cafeteria style location that has perfected their craft.

Newbie. It is worth the hype, delicious. I had the turkey double dipped with coleslaw, and loved it. My husband had lamb dip with blue cheese and potato salad, and he was beyond impressed. Be warned the mustard is very spicy. Service is efficient and with a smile. LOVE the history behind it all.

It had been a long time since the first time my husband took me here to eat. This time around the food tastes so delicious. The atmosphere and vibe was on point. They are busy like always. If you're nearby or in the area or come as a tourist, this is a great place to stop by and grab a bite. Plus it's epic and a landmark on its own. Show them some love and support.

Cool spot. It's usually always packed specially for lunch! People are nice sometimes in a rush, but that's because there's so many people! It used to be cash only when I went long time ago. I was able to order for pick up. It was easy AF! You won't have to wait in line...so yeah! They have a little spot inside that also sells candy for the one's with a sweet tooth! Go and enjoy and dip your Sammie!

Loved our dinner at Philippe the Original. Walking through the front door definitely feels like stepping back in time. Nothing fancy but super friendly and amazing food. Ordering at the counter was quick and easy. The menu is filled with many options and unique sides and add-ons. We tried the beef dip which was excellent and my kids actually loved the dill pickles and rolls with butter. They have extra seating upstairs but be aware that it can be a little hot and stuffy up there. Overall, so glad we tried this classic establishment.
