Viva Bigotes

Food was ok and after walking in I was expecting it to be amazing.Very friendly staff, I was greeted by I believe the owner and he was super friendly. I placed an order for takeout which took about 10 minutes to be made and I was expecting longer as all the tables were full inside. Very clean looking and new interior, somewhat loud as the tables are close to each other but you could still hold a conversation without yelling. Some of the better Mexican in NJ, but not the greatest overall. The food. I ordered every type of meat and some other stuff as well. I felt that the chicken, pork and chorizo were bland and could really use some seasoning. The beef taco did have a nice flavor however. The empanada had a corn bread type of shell, which was surprising and worked really well but the stuffing, again, didn't have much flavor. I've been to places in Texas that the meat has so much flavor you can't imagine life without it. While the presentation of the food, even for takeout, was beautiful the flavor was lacking. This was my first time there and I will be giving it another chance. I would prefer this place over Surf Taco which is down the street. I understand Surf Taco is not a Mexican restaurant and they focus on fish but it's more of a personal preference. The prices at Bigotes are fair and I feel the food you get for the price is about right, I've been to similar places outside of NJ that were a little less but they obviously do not have the high rent of NJ to deal with.
