Las Carretas

Stopped in with a hungry crew. I was seated quickly, and served promptly. I had chips, salsa, and water immediately, and ordered moments later. Had the #27, Chilé relleno, beef taco, rice and beans. The taco was crisp, flavorful, and covered with soft cheese, the relleno was nicely breaded, with a red sauce, the rice and beans were good, beans being less runny than some restaurants I have had. Everything was hot, fresh, and delicious. I have them on my map for a future visit. Sadly, my crew, at another table, on the other side of the divider had slower and slightly disorganized service, and were somewhat disappointed in that aspect, but they said their food was good, too.

We walked in and were pleasantly surprised at the décor it reminded us of our favorite place in Southern California! We ordered from a diverse menu, with all of our favorites and some "new" dishes, also. My husband ordered me a margarita and it was delish. I had the shrimp quesadilla, and actually found a lot of shrimp in it. My husband ordered a burrito and the chorizo in that was real, not the melt in a pan and scramble eggs with it. All in all the place is a long way from Kansas City where we were going for a meeting; however, we are looking forward to going back to Las Carretas; because the food was so very good!
