The food was good. I was worriedy grandson wouldn't eat when I was told they don't have chicken nuggets. But everyone went along with the 'T Rex Food' story I gave the kiddo, and he even tried new food!!! Lol Awesome people!!!

When first walking in the waitress met me at the counter. She asked what I'd be having so I told her the lunch buffet. She was very sweet and asked what I wanted to drink while she was getting me a few plates and silverware. When I sat my things down at a table I looked around and it wasnt too busy and looked really clean. My waitress got me a glass of sweet tea (me being from out west I was always warned that it could be too sweet but compared to the glass I had in sc it was just perfect. Not too sweet but not too bitter). The Buffett was clean and looked pretty fresh. The fried chicken wasnt the best I've ever had but it wasnt the worst. I'd rate it a 6 out of a 10. The flavor was good on the skin but the inside was a tiny bit dry. Which can happen being at a buffet but it wasnt dry enough to where I needed a drink of tea every second. The mashed potatoes were light and fluffy and tasted better than most restaurants. I did get a tiny regular chicken breast. Very flavorful with seasoning but the inside was definitely dry. And the pulled pork was right in point. All in all I'd say between the friendly service, the food, and the cleanliness it was definatly a 4 out of 5.
They have tender steak, awesome fried chicken, soft hot rolls AND strawberry shortcake (my favorite)! The waitresses will not let your drinks run out, nor will they leave dirty dishes on your table AND they bring as many clean plates as you need!! This is a good place to eat!! If you don't want the Buffet, they have a great menu of items you can choose from. Very good prices too!!
Good comfort food at a reasonable price. We had the buffet bar which includes the salad bar, hot bar, and desert bar. The salad bar looked very fresh and cold. The hot bar had some fried fish and shrimp which were fresh and hot. The service was good and she kept our drinks filled.
I have eaten here most of my life. Salad bar is good but could be better due to declining items but everyone is cutting costs where they can. I miss the three different colours of ranch!
It is still a great family environment and the staff were very hospitable to the Scouts we had there.
For an older establishment it is great. It could use a remodel for a fresh, more modern look.
My family and I absolutely adore the staff here. They are always so good to us and treat us like family. They always play with my little girl and we always leave with more than we come in with (they always give her a stuffed animal.) The food is very good and we really enjoy coming here. Its one of my favorite restaurants.
I always enjoy my meals here! Friendly staff and good food. The buffet always has a good variety to choose from. I think that they have the best fried chicken around! I'd like to see them update the carpet and tables...but if it will keep the prices down, leave the old worn carpet down. LOL
Pretty good place all in all. Food is typical cafeteria type food but it generally tastes good and is fresh. Great place to take a group for a buffet. Staff is always friendly and on top of things. They have a long established history in this town, and have always done a brisk business so, it's safe to say they are doing something right.
My family and I have gone to AJ's for a couple years now and we've always loved it, we've always been treated good but we went there the other day and the older waitress was very rude told us that our drinks was what they were and they weren't they were bottom of the barrel and then we wanted to save our food, (we've always paid for the take-home buffet you know and we paid so much a pound and we take it home, eat it later )we each got the buffet and we wanted to save our food and take them home with us which we never had a problem with it before, you know they've always let us pay for our poundage and that, but she screamed 😳 at us that we couldn't take it home we couldn't pay it because it was the buffet and the buffet was not to go home 😬 so we've decided we will not go to AJ's in Lenoir again! the rudeness was too much!
If you want real country food, it's here. The staff are all so nice and the food is great. I think there should be more options on the salad bar but it's still got plenty to choose from. Great place!
