Leadville Grill Bar & Cafe

I loved this Mexican restaurant. The margaritas and beers we had were ICE cold and delicious. I ordered the chili relleno & tamale plate. One of the best I've ever had! The green chili was great also. Super Fresh. AND a kind and welcoming staff. I will (and do) recommend this dive to anyone who visits Leadville. Tops for this mountain town!

Great Mexican food. This place is located in a residential neighborhood and parking is limited. When I got there it was full, which I take as a good sign. The place was hopping, but I had ordered takeout. The bartender was busy mixing margaritas, but still took time to check that my order had the right items. We tried the Roberto especial, flautas, and chile plates. All of them were great. My 12 yo daughter attacked the Chile plate and said it was her favorite. The sopapillas were perfect especially with a little honey. Our chief complaint was we ate too much and were stuffed and ready for a siesta. Great food served by nice staff. We'll be back for more.

Ordered vegetarian Chile rellenos but when they arrived there was chicken/pork mixed in with the sauce which caused me to be ill. No apologies from the staff for this and I had to beg to get them to remove the charge from our bill. They also had no way to split our bill and made us do the math on the back of the receipt explaining what amount to charge on each credit card and then told us we owed another $50. Overall a very unpleasant experience, one star awarded for decent margaritas.

If you look around at some of the other reviews I've left you'll find I'm hard to please. I use to WORK at many of these places including the place I'm about to leave the review for. However I can say with all sincerity that this was the best experience overall. The service has only IMPROVED since my early days as a busser there. The salsa was amazing, and the Fajitas were still just like I remember. Amazing. I couldn't be more delighted that we have an example restaurant like this one in town, as service/quality is often lackluster at best around here. If you're heading to leadville and wondering where to eat, SAY NO MORE, find that pink building and get your grub on so you can get to enjoying the town sooner rather than later due to sudden hunger pains.
