We live on the island and have had several great meals at Ultra House both in the restaurant and as takeout. The food is really good, they have a nice selection of sake and imported beers, and the staff has always been very friendly. The Tonkotsu signature ramen is delicious and takes you on a journey of tastes and textures. I personally don't visit without grabbing some of the gyoza pork dumplings as well - they're perfectly cooked with a crispy bottom and deliciously seasoned pork. If you don't want ramen but still want something to warm your soul, the miso soup is delicious and fairly hearty with tofu, scallions, seaweed, and shiitake mushrooms. They also have lots of imported snacks and treats from Japan at the counter area, so it's fun to try a few new mystery snacks each time we visit.
Know that this place is tiny and very popular. They run out of tables quickly, so have some patience and don't expect to be seated right away during the dinner rush. They also have limited hours and days of operation (welcome to Whidbey Island). They do a really good job of packing takeout orders if you'd rather grab and go!
WOW. Authentic, delicious ramen. Brought my mom, she grew up in Japan and agreed this is top-rate, no compromises.
Best ramen on whidbey island. Small seating space inside, but you may sit outside as well. Any order comes with a mini dish of edamame.
Great Food! My son and I dined in after his soccer game and we had a great lunch. Dennis is very welcoming and the overall service was great.
My husband and I make a monthly pilgrimage here from the North end of Whidbey Island. The food is excellent every time. Their beer menu has grown including some delicious imported options. The shop is a bit small but has a lovely atmosphere to make up for that. Before you visit, check their hours because they're atypical. It's pricey but the food is worth its price. This ramen shop feels like a small slice of Japan with the authentic taste to accompany it.
Stopped in for lunch with a group of 7 on a Saturday. We were seated without waiting. They can get very busy during peak hrs. Food was delicious; staff was friendly, responsive, and efficient. My favorite is the chicken rice bowl. The gift shop adds a nice touch, we bought beautiful ceramic bowls to take home. Will definitely be back, highly recommend.

It's so good.

The taste is not as good as the first time I tried. This time I tried different ramen, and it was a bit salty.
We re-feel the japan vibes!! Worth the drive! The rắmen’s are superb. The best thing about this place is, it has a little play area on the side for kids. That really occupied our babies 😁
Amazing Dumplings and the best rice bowl I've ever had. The Chashu Pork was perfect
Super good eats with very friendly staff and owner :) Love that the ramen broth isn't too salty and for us, the portion size is just perfect. The vegetarian broth was lighter than the pork black garlic ramen, but still had lots of creamy flavor and lots of yummy fillings. Mango ice cream mochi afterwords also hit the spot, and they have a very impressive and long list of beverages! The onigiri sampler was very good, filling and simple and each flavor was great (in particular I loved the sour plum). The fried gyoza were also juicy and crispy with a great dipping sauce. And lastly, their vegetable bowl was filling and hearty while also feeling very nutritious and nourishing. Also love their logo design and merchandise, and will be back to try their natto bowl and more ^^
