This is an authentic restaurant with delicious home cooked meals. We had the daily special of stuffed turkey wing over rice, red beans, green salad or gumbo, buttermilk biscuit, dessert, and drink- all for $12.95. They are open 11-2 and you do not have to visit Vermillionville village to eat at the restaurant. The service was wonderful. The workers all eat here as well - it’s that good! I would have brought a gallon of that gumbo home if I’d had an ice chest!
Best Chicken and Sausage Gumbo ever! The rest of the plates we ordered: Crawfish Etouffee, fried chicken and fried shrimp were really good too, specially the fried shrimp. Really cheap for the quality and quantity. Good service.
Wonderful experience!! I can't say enough. I've been going since I was a kid. I love the houses and the restaurant. I wish the restaurant offered other things, more appetizers and pastries. Not everyone wants to have a meal there. We wanted coffee and something small but was not much to choose from. Be sure to catch the Sunday dance.
I was in the middle of playing tourist in the area and I figured before I started the self guided tour here, I would have a bite to eat. I got the baked potato stuffed with crawfish ettouffe and bread pudding for dessert. The food was very good. Wait staff was very friendly.
We got there during buffet times. Was very yummy and true Cajun cuisine. Super delicious gumbo and dessert.
We just finished visiting the historic village and came here for lunch. So glad we did, it made our trip so easy. The plate lunch option was delicious and a good serving. They had a good kids menu as well. Not overpriced at all, good service and beautiful windows in the restaurant!
The service was okay. None of the workers acted as if they wanted to be there. I went on a Saturday. I did try a seafood platter with crawfish bisque. It was delicious. Their potato salad was a little sweet which I didn't like though. Atmosphere is nice.
Awesome lunch special!! Started out with delicious Gumbo, then some Awesome Chili, cornbread, & sweet corn. Topped it off with exceptional bread pudding!!
Excellent food! You get so much for the price of one plate lunch at most places! It's wonderful that you get an appetizer, main meal, drink and dessert for one price! Lovely atmosphere and the cuisine is always on point! A little hidden gem on the Vermillion Bayou! Definitely one of my favorite places to eat!
We ordered the lunch special & were NOT disappointed! From the pork chop to the biscuit to the bread pudding... EVERYTHING was delicious!
