Buffalo Mac and Cheese!! Best Around. Homemade Cheese Sauce with Cavatappi noodles, Hot sauce, Chicken Fingers, Blue Cheese, Bacon.
Bring your football fever and your big-boy appetite to this place – the food is full flavor and there is plenty of it. We stopped in one weekday for lunch and were treated to great service, excellent “Buffalo” food and game 6 of the 1977 world series – can’t beat that. (Reggie!) The Press Box was formerly Woody’s Pub. I don’t know what it looked like before but it looks great now. A handsome word bar, tile floors, tin ceiling, cozy seating, nice bar decor, a bunch of flat screens and artisan beers on tap would usually be enough for me. Add in some good service and creative grub and you have a winner. We ordered: Buffalo Eggrolls – chicken, cabbage, carrots, celery, blue cheese and hot sauce served with with hot p
Good selection of bottled beers, 10 taps for drafts, nice mix of mid and top shelf spirits, wines are pretty 'meh'.
Place is clean and newly remodeled but still has a classic tavern feel to it. Lots of seating around the bar area. No separate dining room, so if the bar is busy, there's no buffer for the noise - which can be substantial, depending on the crowd. On my visit (a football Sunday in November), the bar was packed with a younger, louder crowd - it's a sports bar, after all - so don't expect a family-friendly experience (the f-bombs dropped were louder than the 4 TV's at the bar by far!).
Seems like a place that attracts a local crowd of mostly regular patrons and they obviously feel at home and in their element. That said, it's a huge improvement over the previous incarnation, which was a dive bar with a reputation for fighting, drug use and questionable food on its best days.
I'll have to try it again on a non football day and give the food a chance as well. Overall, I'd say it's not a bad bar based on my one visit - but I wouldn't bring anyone that's likely to take offense at salty language or the antics of drunken sports fans.
The Press Box was a really nice place to grab a quick lunch on a Saturday. The decor was clean and welcoming. The bartender/waiter was kind and attentive but not overbearing. The menu offered a nice variety of choices but not so that it was overwhelmingly large. The Busters Blue Burger I ordered was cooked to a perfect medium with just the right balance of toppings including crumbly blue cheese, bacon, lettuce, and a medium wing sauce which was not spicy at all. The patty was hand shaped and juicy while the fries were crispy and seasoned with hints of flavor of garlic and onion. The atmosphere was quiet when I was there but I bet it gets rocking later at night!
Great place! Excellent food! I have used the Press Box numerous times as a gathering spot for various functions and have never been disappointed! The owner has made numerous accommodations to customize each function!
