I was working at WeWork San Diego and wanted to find a local deli that was affordable. Fred's popped up on search and I decided to give it a try. The lunch combo was around $12 for a hot sandwich, chips, and a drink.
Fred was there himself and obviously has built a reputation with the locals, which I really loved to see. The deli almost feels like a bodega, it's so simple but you can tell everyone loves it and so did I.
My hot tuna sandwich was delicious and honestly a great meal after a long day of morning meetings. I would definitely go back and try more things on the menu in the future.

hidden gem! This deli spot is so fresh. Service is amazing. Food is delicious. Had the mushroom and barley soup. With a BLT! Highly recommend!
Good little hole in the wall sandwich shop with a nice variety of sandwiches, salads and drinks. Sandwich came with a free cup of soup. There is no seating so you need to eat your sandwich elsewhere.
The owner was delightful and eager to please. The food was fresh, delicious with hefty portions! It even had vegan options! It’s good for everyone who wants a quick, tasty bite to eat.
Enjoyed a Vegan waffle with berries and avocado. The waffle was slightly sweet while the berries and avocado offered a nutty sweet complement to the whole dish. Very very good😀.
Hidden gem in Gaslamp District
First time eating from here and definitely will be back!!! Plus great customer service.
