Had the pear & greens salad, duck pasta, & chocolate-hazelnut mousse dessert. Most delicious meal I’ve had in a week of great San Diego dining. Great, personable service, water glass never got below half full, fresh fork for entree, yummy sourdough bread & nice wine list. All while rooftop dining with a view over La Jolla Cove. Sweet!
Really tasty food. Great service. One of my favorite SD restaurants. Pasta is al dente and is served in a decent portion. Pizzas are well cooked and full of flavor. My favorite was the duck patte as an appetizer! 😋
Such a lovely dinner experience here! Great service, delicious food in well-sized portions. And of course a view of the beautiful La Jolla… We tried the butternut squash ravioli (personally found it a bit too sweet for dinner), basil pesto tagliatelle (my favorite) and apple chikory salad.
The atmosphere is very nice…Service was superb and our food totally off the charts and SPECTACULAR!! We had a great salad with pistachios and pizza. I highly recommend this place for families or a date night.
Food was great! Loved the family sharing for table of 8+. Love the experience!! Definitely recommend for special occasion. You do have to reserve the outside patio ahead of time unfortunately, other than that no complaints. O must try amaretto Margarita!! They make thier own amaretto 🤤
This is our favorite place to come! Great service and fresh food! The Portofino is amazing!! Their wine and cocktails are delicious! We love our server Kristin, she is super knowledgeable about the food and wine.
We came to celebrate our anniversary and they made it special.
Great roof top views too!
Catania, my favorite Italian restaurant in SD so far. Nice decor, good service, good food and reasonably priced. If tgere are better, please name names & let me know! Only been here 2 years :)
Came after a hike from La Jolla Cove to Torrey Pines during low tide. So I was pretty famished.
Took a little work to find the entrance, hidden in a multi-story building. You get a wonderful surprise when walking in - bright, open to the outside.
I made reservations, so got seated pretty much immediately. Everyone was friendly & casual. It's a very nice atmosphere. I had a great view of the sky from my table.
Food was very good. Nothing blew me away (hence no 5 star) but definitely the best out of the few Italian restaurants I tried in SD...so far. In the order of what I liked most to least:
Spring Pea Crostini - sweet, tangy, salty, fresh, crunchy. All the things a great crostini should be.
Pasta. So bad...I lost my receipt so can't remember what it was. Just remember I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Kale Salad - a very fresh dressing that went great with the crunchy kale. I never was a huge fan of chickpeas until I had how they prepared it here. A very satisfying crunch!
Sicilian Pistachio Pizza - wasn't a bad pizza, but it was a little too doughy. Maybe should have been cooked for another 20 seconds? Still enjoyed it - much better than the typical North American pizza, but I expected better, especially given the other dishes.
I will definitely be back!
The food was terrific. Best Italian I’ve had in a long time and best meal I’ve had in months. Ambiance was great. Wine was also really nice.
Brought the lady here for her birthday, it's an awesome spot that overlooks the streets of La Jolla. The espresso martini's are fantastic, I had several. I got the chicken dish which was tasty albeit a bit dry but it was garnished and seasoned perfectly. Our waiter was great and the lady had a great time,
Excellent place for a nice dinner.
Service is friendly and competent when it comes to recommendations, the food is well prepared and the menu has a great choice if dishes that are not just the standard that you get everywhere.
Unbelievable! Amazing flavors. Great view, pleasant staff. The lamb and swordfish were both incredible! The pizza appetizer also had great flavor.
So happy we came here. I had the sweet corn tortellini spring special and the cardamom panna cotta for dessert. Came back a second day and was disappointed in the pizza because there were giant slices of garlic in the sauce so my entire pizza tasted like garlic. I love garlic, but I want my pizza sauce to taste like tomatoes, not garlic (unless specified). There was legit 2 entire cloves at least in my one personal pizza. My boyfriend loved it because he is obsessed with garlic. Overall really enjoyed the food here though. Amazing customer service and beautiful atmosphere
