Offering a pretty interior with booths in the back beyond the sushi bar. It's quite a large restaurant. Here's what I liked about it:
1. The servers are very friendly. There is a button on the table that you can push If and when you need something.
2. The teriyaki chicken Bento box is quite large.
3. They give you a plate of fresh ginger and a plate with wasabi in a floral design.
4. There is the full bar and Japanese beer on draft. The wine prices are more reasonable than other Japanese restaurants in nearby neighborhoods.
5. The poke bowl is fresh with lots of cubed avocado.
6. If you want a really healthy dish order the fresh fish entrée with vegetables.
7. They offer an array of interesting desserts that are better than at many Japanese restaurants.
8. There's plenty of free parking in the front.
This place is soooooo good!!!. @ ilovemyvans16, I know everyone is entiltled to their own
opinion. But I just gotta say you are sooooo wrong about Sakana. I am wondering if you own one of those sushi restaurant down on Honolulu street. By far the best service and best sushi in town. And the owner is the one of the nicest person I met. Are you trying to get some free food or something? Come on let's not go too crazy about these reviews. *0*
Nice, Nice, Nice. Sakana has very nice ambience/decor, service and food!!
My chirashi loaded with varity of sashimi, they were a bit thin but very fresh. Mixed tempura appetizer had light batter, crunchy and yummy. My friend's salmon teriyaki dinner included Califorian roll, mixed tempura, salad and red-bean ball for dessert. Food was beautifully arranged.
Waitstaff was friendly and attentive. We had a lovely dinner.
Small, intimate, tasty. This place is the total opposite of Tori Yen ( further west on foothill) a handful of tables, quiet and relaxed. The kind of place to enjoy a romantic dinner for two. It has a very family feel, indeed depending on the time you arrive, you will find the kids doing homework on your way to the restroom. The food is good, no complaints, but no real raves yet from me. I get the sense that I am a bit more adventuresome than their average customer. The menu is full of safe favorites, but nothing to really stretch your palette. Still a good plate of fish and a warm bottle of saki shared with good company go a long way to making this place loveable.
