Even if you’re not a resort member, you can tell the gate guard you want to have dinner down at Hau tree and they’ll let you through. The only parking is valet, but it is complementary. The Fredrico and Mai tai here are no joke! They are incredibly well made and are perfect to watch the sunset with. The dinner menu was pretty solid, and was pretty tasty, if slightly pricey. Come here for the drinks if nothing else!

This place is perfect for lunch during you were at the beach. It’s right on the beach and food are potty good! We went a little before 1pm and took the last table. After that, there was a line for tables. It was pretty busy so you need to be a little patient for everything. Service was slow but friendly staff, good food and most importantly you are on vacation so we can do slow once in a while!

Great option for a romantic dinner and not too expensive. The sunset views were great and the service was wonderful. Some notes- the Ahi sashimi was cut too thick, should have been thinner. The short ribs were sweet (not my favorite). The fish tacos were good, but not amazing. The best part of the meal were the popsicles!!! You should get the coconut ice cream popsicle- it was delicious!!

Maybe the best pace to eat on a beach on the island. The service was good. The food was fine. The views were amazing. We were there after a round of golf but I bet sunset would be breath taking.

I love this place. It had an amazing view of the sunset and kind staffs. My kids enjoyed keiki menu and the food was good. I loved their signature cocktail. They have complementary valet service for the restaurant customers and online reservations are very easy to make. Plus you can see the manta rays for free!

Great spot to watch the sunset, on my favourite beach on the island. The food is just ok and there are some economical options, the drinks are good but a little pricey. It’s just so great to be able to be in such a beautiful place, that is not crowded and involves no waiting for tables. It was also nice that the valet parking was complimentary to be at the restaurant.

Wonderful beachside dining. This restaurant has been here for decades. It has been here for over 40 years; ever since I was growing up. The menu has not changed much over the years. They offer anything from salads to hamburgers to turkey clubs. They offer a full bar selection along with their well known Trent Jones and Arnold Palmer tea drinks. The sunset is spectacular here at night. I always order off menu turkey sandwich (they always put TON of turkey) with white bread (toasted) with Mayo on the side, no tomato. Fries are a $3 upgrade from their standard chips or fresh fruit sides. The prices are reasonable. Ovaltine chocolate shakes for the kid or kid at heart is a fun way to splurge during the day or at night. The same wait staff has worked there for YEARS! They remember us each time we come snd we only come 3-4 times a year. We love this hotel and restaurant and we hope you do to! See photos!

Hau Tree Restaurant is located at the Mauna Kea Beach Resort. On Saturday's from 6pm - 8pm they offer a Clambake / seafood buffet that includes Keahole Main lobster, fresh oyster bar, sashimi, and other seafood. They also have prime rib, caesar salad, rice, grilled fish, and desserts. It's priced at around $120 per person, so come with a big appetite! Definitely worth it for the view, food, and to celebrate a special occasion.

Gorgeous sunsets, amazing service, delicious food. My family and I ended our week long trip to Kona last week by choosing the ideal spot to have our last meal together beachside at the Mauna Kea restaurant, Hau Tree. We had such an exceptional experience and were there not as guests of the hotel but instead just beach guests, where they allow for free parking and access to this hidden gem. If you are looking for a perfect evening with your friends or family to stroll on an impeccable white sand beach and relax among the palm trees and a beautiful setting, you will not forget the experience at Hau Tree. Enjoy.
