4 stars for a dive bar is pretty damn good. I suggest grabbing your beer at the bar with cash, then heading out back to the deck.

I love this place - let me start by saying that. "The Blue Crab Tavern is a unique, waterfront dive bar on the Outer Banks," says their website and it is certainly that but so much more! Far enough off of the beaten path to be out of the way - and off the radar of most summer visitors, it is a place where the beer is plentiful and very affordable, the locals at the bar will size you up to see whether or not you fit in and if you don't want to sit in the bar, the outdoor waterfront seating will make you wish you lived across the street from this place so that you could come, drink freely and not have to worry about driving home! For real down-home local atmosphere you can't do better than The Blue Crab. There is ample dock space if you want to pull up in your boat. This is a great place.

We went for a quick after dinner drink here - classic dive vibes. Walked in, was greeted right away by the bartender and the locals at the bar. We got an NC IPA and sat out back to watch the sun set. Everyone was friendly and we hope to go back next time we are in NC! Other reviews said this but cash only - check your wallets! Also LORDY some of these other reviews made me laugh. Thanks for a chuckle!!!!!
