I was on Kauai and found this great little place called the "Palate Wine Bar" in Kilauea - Great wine, great small plates, great atmosphere and owner Drew really knows his stuff....Great vibe! Not alot of great wine in the island so finding the Palate Wine Bar was a total treasure on the island...come check it out!! Tell him The Wine Dude sent you!!
Great food, great people. It’s like going to a friends party. A friend who cooks well and has a great room to house everyone.
Not much else can be said about this quaint, well curated operation that gets just about everything right that hasn't already been said. They've got a handful of two person tables, a small bar, and a table that can hold a group of 6. This level of intimacy is precisely what makes this place so special, but be forewarned you have to have a reservation to have a real shot of having a space to enjoy it. The owner was hands on in the kitchen the entirety of our visit and made it a point to interact with all of his patrons- that's a mark of someone who takes great pride in what they do and you can tell from the overall execution of Palate. Great spot for a date or catch up session with a friend. Don't sleep on the flatbreads!
We had the shrimp flatbread and it was a tasty treat! The dough is very light and thin, but so good. I should have ordered two, but one is fine if you have an app/ salad prior. Great wine selection by the glass too.
This place is just special. You will have to open the door to figure out if it’s open, but worth a curious pull in on the door handle.

The food is mostly flat bread based. There are daily specials, and a good selection of wine. There is a nice selection of many varieties. Their liquor/ market next door ensures you’re covered.

I enjoyed my early dinner here yesterday. I had the pasta of the day (Mushrooms + Feta) and a red wine flight. I couldn’t help but snap a few pics of my bowl and the charcuterie board for the table next to me. The service was attentive, I liked watching the chefs lovingly make their dishes!
Stopped at Palate b/c my first choice was closed, but Palate should have been my first choice! Leia was super nice! I had the salami and sun-dried tomato Flatbread special, which was outstanding!
At 6pm on a Tuesday in early October they weren't busy but were starting to pick up.
One Flatbread was a medium size meal for one, I'd say to plan on one per person.
Stopped in here alone, a group of very friendly people & the servers welcomed me to join them. Had a great time! Awesome chocolate mousse with fresh strawberries & vanilla bean whipped cream. Great wine selection. It's become a regular place for me. The chef's soups are hearty, everything I've tried is tasty. Highly recommend.
Terrific food and service. We got the Palate sampler board, a Moroccan mushroom bisque (soup du jour), and a flatbread. Came here for our anniversary dinner and had the best time! 10/10
Outstanding food and amazing service. The chef and waitress were both very nice. It's very clean but my favorite thing about this place is the food. Definitely a must visit while in Kauai.
Very glad we found this place. The vibe is amazing - from the decor to the music to the food & wine. We had so much fun! We had a lot of good banter with the folks at the bar and in the kitchen.
We got the charcuterie board, the kale salad, and the pepperoni flatbread. The food tasted very fresh, and the flavors were pleasantly nuanced and not overpowering, particularly on the salad. The dough on the flatbread - what was it?!?! Wow. Portions are also humongous.
This spot is also very close to Princeville, and on the way back from the south part of the island. Super convenient.
We will be back next time we are in Kauai
