Red Earth Cafe

We stopped here for lunch on Saturday, August 10, 2019 during a camping trip at Johnson Sauk. It's a family-style restaurant with a warm, comfortable atmosphere and good food. The view of the lake is also very nice. My daughter had the beer-battered chicken and I had a burger with fries - both of which were very good. The menu isn't huge, but there's a decent selection. Don't expect fast food, as it does take some time for them to prepare the food and they don't seem to have a lot of help. Still, the lady who waited on us was very pleasant and attentive. My daughter and I shared a delicious piece of strawberry shortcake after lunch and it was refreshing! We would definitely come back again, and I think we would try a piece of pie next time! NOTE: They don't seem to have fountain pop, but they do have cans of both Pepsi and Coke products.

This place has gone way down hill. Service was slow- a CHILD less than 12 years old had to take our drink orders and it literally took an hour for breakfast when there were only 4 tables that were being served. My waffle came out cold, so we had to put it in the microwave. If I could give zero stars I would. Don’t waste your time or money.
