On July 1, 2023, three of us embarked on a mission to visit all 12 L&L locations on the Big Island. This was our 10th stop. While waiting to place our order, the lady working here "yelled" at my friend for mistaking a table for a bench. There were no chairs at the table and even if there were, there would be no place to sit and fit in the tiny space allotted for ordering.
We ordered our obligatory musubi and to be honest, at this point in the day, I couldn't tell you how it tasted. We were desperate to finish the challenge and eating musubi for the 10th time in one day was just a blur.
I did like the outdoor seating, it was nice to be able to sit in the fresh air and while being a part of a strip mall, the noise and foot traffic was minimal.
Would I go back here again? I won't say no. But I wouldn't go out of my way to get here either.
The healthy choice garlic shrimp was delicious and with a generous portion of grilled shrimp. The accompanying salad was fresh and with lots of tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots and purple canbage. Visually appealing and a good value.

The food is fresh and they have a great selection of local food,chinese and american. I got a 2 choice plate and they give me really big scoops that i have leftovers for they next day. The price isnt bad either. I would go before 12 or 5 thats when its not to busy and they just put out for lunch or dinner so everything is so fresh and good. I paid $34 and that was for 3 2choice plates.
The ratio of rice to meat in their musubis is off. It doesn't matter which one you order. You will get a thin really slice of meat and about 2 inches of rice.
Good food at a fair price! Generous servings and very quick! We dined at l&l twice during our stay on the big island. It was the only eating establishment we visited twice because we knew we could get in and out you no time at all! We enjoyed the orange chicken and the tonkatsu and a couple other authentic Hawaiian dishes
The barbecue mix plate is the best! Plenty of variety and I always have leftovers for tomorrow's lunch (a sure sign of a good restaurant!). Mac salad is a bit overwhelming with the mayo but tasty nonetheless.
No frills kine shop. Had the garlic fried fish with fried rice. Delicious!
I order as I leave work in Hilo by phone and they have it ready by the time I hit Keaau. I get the BBQ mixed plate w/french fries and Mac salad. So good! And usually get 2 - 3 meals out of one.
The food was really good. They have 2 outdoor tables
I used to enjoy Hilo Drive Inn on Lanikaula and found out the former owner now works here. She brought some of the unique menu items like the curry plates to this location making it unique from the other L&L's!
