New owners Clean and fresh seafood. This place has been completely redone, it's bright and clean the food was great the the sushi was 5 star and the guy making the sushi was great, he knows what he's doing and knows how to make things not on the menu. The new owners are very inviting. I recommend anyone that hasn't tried it do and anyone that used to go, go back, you'll be glad you did
My husband & I have been coming to this resturant since we started dating back in October of 2007 (my husband longer...even before it was called Koby). Now before you jump to quick judgement about this place it is a small family owned & operated place. If you are wanting high end fancy go else where. If you are looking for a friendly warm enviroment with great food this is the place for you. The staff is wonderful and really try to get to know you. The fried rice is amazing we always get extra orders. Not to mention the salad dressing is so different and wonderful. My husband & I love this resturant and our daughter is even starting to love it. We would highly recommend this resturant.

Good for a quick bite of sushi. I finally tried this place...I get my nails done at Ivy Nails, which is right next door in the same strip center. I wanted a quick lunch before I did my other errands. I got the Tiger Eye roll and the Spider roll, and both were good. The Tiger Eye seemed like the rice ratio was a little off (as in too much rice), but not a big deal. My waitress was really friendly, and everything was prompt.
Like other reviewers, I was there when the place was dead. Saturday at lunchtime...but y'all have to realize, it's not a great location for a business! It's in an older strip center that doesn't have much traffic to begin with...the most popular place is probably Ivy Nails. The restaurant is tucked back there, and there's nothing that catches your eye about the building. Sometimes, the lack of customers has nothing to do with the food and service.
Granted, it wasn't the best sushi I've ever had...but it was good. Place was clean, and it seemed like the couple sitting in the other half of the restaurant was enjoying their hibachi presentation. And my rolls were pretty cheap! Nice decor and ambiance. I'd go there again, after my mani/pedi!
I thought it was really great!. If you are looking for the opulence of Benihana, you won't find it here. What you will find is good food. My wife and I had a Groupon for the special dinner. Remembering the reviews, we carefully chose the filet(with an additional charge--I think.) The salad was pedestrian--but we had not come for the salad. The chef did his culinary sword dance, and we were served the filet. It was quite good. We had the vegetables, also good. The chef put two shrimp on each plate, and I cautiously sampled it while thinking of the bad reviews. Perfect shrimp! My questions are: have the other reviewers been too picky? Were they there on a bad night? Were these old reviews? Are the reviewing the same restaurant I am. We plan to go back, Groupon or not.

Hibache Review. Overall a positive experience at Koby. We had a Groupon, which was 2 hibache dinners for $24. My girlfriend and I each got the Filet.
We started with the standard hibache soup and salad. Both were excellent! The salad dressing wasn't ginger like all other HIbache places. It kind of reminded me somewhat of ranch, but it was very unique. The soup came out piping hot, and was fantastic... great flavor.
The Chef was great. Standard hibache show, nothing really fancy if you're used to going to hibache restaurants. The first thing onto the plate was the fried rice. The rice was very good, but I've had better. Next was our filets, and they were good, but not fantastic. There was a little bit of fat, and the steak was a tiny bit chewy. That may sound picky, but every other place that I have gotten a filet, it basically melted in your mouth. Even though the filet wasn't the best, the flavor was fantastic.
Next were the appetizer shrimp, which were quite frankly awful. Whatever you do, don't get the shrimp as your main course. They were very fishy tasting, and extremely chewy.
Lastly was the vegetables, which were very good. Seasoned just right, and very fresh.
Would I come here again? No, not unless I had a groupon. Without it, the total, with tip at 18%, would have been $60 for two people. Was the food good? Yes, for the most part, I can't deny that.
Excellent sushi!!!. I love the sushi at Koby. I have really eaten only on meal there but it too was good. The sushi chef is so sweet. She is very personable and always remembers faces. I've been going there for about a year. I recently found out I was pregnant and when I asked if the sushi had the fish eggs she immediately modified all of the rest of my rolls, all cooked of course, not to include any uncooked/undercooked meat. I didn't even know until afterwards. Then she asked me how far along I was and I asked how did you know and she said because you never asked those questions before and I knew why. She then told me she modified everything and to let her know when I was coming so she could prepare my sushi special!! I love the place and still go there when I have a sushi craving!! Love the place and would highly recommend it!
SO IMPRESSED!!!!!!!. It was so fresh & delicious! I absolutely loved it, as well as everyone who was with me. The salmon sashimi was unbelievably tasty...so fresh! The hibachi grill chef was a pro and everything was made-to-order perfectly. The steak was so tender & the lobster couldn't have been cooked better. For what looks like a hole-in-the-wall that you'd miss if for not having the coupon with the name & address like us, it is the best Japanese steakhouse I've ever been to. That's saying a lot because I've been going to Benihana & restaurants alike for over 20 years! We will return again & again for sure!
Great Japanese Place. My family is a regular at Koby. The food is affordable for fresh Japanese food and the people at Koby are very nice. Always have a funny time with the staff at Koby

This place was really good. Our server Jacob was on his job... it was six of us and we can be something else as a family to say the least. Our chef Hosea was amazing very animated and really engaged our entire table the entire time. Large portions as well I couldn't even count all my shrimp. Highly recommend the staff and the food top notch!
Awesome! First time here with my family and we enjoy it! Everything was perfect and delicious! And our Chef - Jose , the best! His show and his food deserve more then 5 stars! Everybody is super nice there, you don't have to wait if you have reservation. Thank you! 👍🏻🤗
On 09/16/2023 was the first time I came with my family to this restaurant. The customer service was excellent. Ms. Jenny was awesome,and she always came and checked on us if we needed something else. She recommended one of their best plates (seafood tempura roll) I really recommend it. I'm definitely coming back.
We dined in on the hibachi side. Service was good. Our cook did a good job; he didn't make our food too salty. Hubby ordered the steak and I ordered the orange roughy. Both were cooked to our liking. Portion was decent for the price.
First time dining. Portions were good. Take advantage of lunch special price!
1) sushi B (lunch special) : the sushi was pretty good quality. The california roll was average good. Some rolls didn’t have the right amount of fish eggs, so that was confusing.
2) hibachi steak : comes with soup/salad and fried rice + vegetables. It was all soy sauce based, and everything was quite salty. Not impressed.
Luis was very entertaining and the food was absolutely amazing!!! He was aware of my sons allergy and was extremely careful with preparing his food, I will absolutely be coming back! Sammy, our waitress was so kind and made sure we had everything we needed and surprised us with a birthday cake for my son. All around great dinner!

I wanted to say Thanks to the Staff at Kobe for a better night for my 46th. Initially my Family and I went to Benihana (but after 30 minutes of no service after being seated) this was our mistake; so we left Benihana and came to Kobe. Kobe was a much better choice by far. As soon as we were seated, the Staff took our drink orders. Upon the drinks arrival, we placed our dinner order. Kobe's Staff did a much better job then Benihana (read my review below). Kobe's atmosphere was bright and attentive which made my Family's night. Kobe and Kobe Staff, Thank you for everything. My Family and Friends and I will definitely return!!!

**On 10-10-23, my Family and I went here around 1730 to eat dinner for my 46th. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately which was awesome, but then it went sideways to say the least. Another family arrived to the table which was fine. However, after 20 to 30 minutes roll by and NO staff at all came by to even ask everyone at our hibachi table on what beverage we would like. The place wasn't even busy. Our table was one of four tables that had guest; the rest of the place was empty, so there shouldn't have been any issues; but this wasn't our case. My family and I were done at this point. We all stood up and left. The Hostess only then informed the on-duty Manager that Five Guest were leaving. The Manager did run out to the parking lot to ask what happened. I advised her of the lack of service which left a bad taste (so to speak) about how terrible it is to have to wait for almost 30 minutes just for drinks let alone be able to order any food. The Manager did apologizes and offered coupon vouchers but I advised that still wouldn't fix the problems. I can recall that Benihana used to be the place many would want to go eat at and it was hard-pressed to get in; but last night proved me wrong and my family. Needless to say, we took our business to Kobe (on Rayford) and had much better experience.
This is our second visit to this restaurant The menu has changed and expanded a little. We ordered 4 different sushi roll plates and they were just as excellent - especially the Hurricane Sushi! The waitress was attentive and friendly.
Our favorite place!! FRESH, quality ingredients and amazing flavor.

Amazing place and my kids absolutely fell in love.. the service was great, nice size portions, food tastes delicious and our chef truly put on a show for the kids! Definitely worth the $$$..
