The ribs were edible but to dry and tasteless the baked beans were great. This is my first taste of KC barbecue I'm disappointed.

Rosedale BBQ was a phenomenal recommendation. I chose to have the burnt ends sandwich meal with a side. Meat had amazing flavor. Some of the meat pieces were a bit rough and grisly: but the flavor made it all worth it.
This is a place I look forward to visiting again on any new visit to Kansas City!

Rosedales was pretty good. Been there since 1934 so you know the food is going to be good. Here is the rundown.
1. Mac and Cheese: yellow sauce, watery. Not great
2. Coleslaw: delightful, nice and light. Good complement to the heavy BBQ
3. Baked Beans: AMAZING! Best food here
4. Ribs: tasty……kind of fatty
5 burnt ends. Also tasty. My plate was so big, sometimes has trouble distinguishing what I was eating
6. Chicken: Dry but good flavor, definitely need to utilize Rosedale’s sauces for the chicken
7. Sauces: both were good, they have a hot sauce and their own BBQ sauce which was tasty
8. Bread? They give you white bread which was odd to me but I guess to sop up all that BBQ goodness
Overall good experience

This is a nice clean place with fast friendly service, and I love the history of it. I had burnt ends and fries, and the burnt ends tastes like chunks of pot roast dressed with BBQ sauce. There was nothing burnt, no blackened outer crust of seasoning and smoke, no bark. The fries were crinkle cut and were crispy, but had no salt so they were bland. The basket meal was $10, which I think is very reasonable, and I would go back and try something else if I'm in the area again.

Burnt ends were too hard. Chicken was extremely dry. Pulled pork was just ok, brisket was good. The best part were the beans and they were fantastic. Good prices, but the food quality is why the prices aren’t as high as other BBQ restaurants. Weird that they don’t have a fountain drink machine, so free refills aren’t an option.

I was so excited to have Rosedale BBQ for lunch today since I hadn't had it for a few years. It was a total disappointment. I ordered the half chicken lunch. You could tell the chicken was leftover from the day before and that they just threw it back on the smoker. Which I wouldn't have minded if it wasn't hard as a rock. the sides were ok. The only fresh thing were the fries. When I called to let them know the lady who answered said I could bring it back and get a new one or have my name put in the book for a replacement. I advised neither would be necessary because I threw it out and would not be returning to their facility again.

The overall environment was nice and staff was friendly. But for us, we hated the taste of the food. Took one bite and said Nope. BBQ is all about preference so others may absolutely love this place. But for us, we prefer Joe's BBQ over this place. The brisket was undesirable and the ribs were boiled.

We absolutely love this BBQ restaurant! We discovered it 20 years ago and stop any time we are going through KC. The 2 meat combo with sausage and brisket is our favorite.
