Rico's Tacos has great tacos! We, the wife and children, are Texas ex-pats from San Antonio and are always on the hunt for good, authentic Taquerias.
We found one today. I had three pastor tacos (my favorite and my measure of a taqueria), while the wife had one pastor, one carnita, and one pollo taco. My oldest son had the tamale plate. The tacos tasted right on; corn tortillas a with variety of meat options, and were priced appropriately ($1.50 ea). The tamales were good- I really liked the masa, it was was light and flavorful, and though i didn't care for the sauce, it was good, just not my style. my son was pleased.
We also ordered guacamole to go with the three very good house sauces, red, green(delicious) and habenero. I definitely recommend starting with the guacamole. In contrast to previous reporting, the chips were just fine. They are not made in the store, but are crisp and just fine.
My only suggestion is that Rico's adds a lengua taco to the menu.
Even the iced tea was good. We highly recommend Rico's for your taco enjoyment!
Where do I start? The tacos al pastor are some of the best I've ever had! The restaurant is small, staff is friendly, and the salsas are amazing!
It's all about the food here. The food here is great, with the exception of the chips. The chips are consistently stale, or at least they taste that way. You can't beat a $2 burrito on Thursdays that is as big as a Chipotle burrito. The service is normally awful and the place is a little dirty. What do you want for $2?
This place has legit Mexican food.. which has been hard to find since leaving So. Cal where it is everywhere. can't beat the Taco Tuesday $1 tacos or $2 Burrito Thursday, great carne asada too! oh Andrew could I forget to mention that this place is BYOB. amazing.
Best Mexican Food for the Best Price. If you desire the best ethnic Mexican food without spending a lot of money than I would recommend Ricos Tacos Lupe to you. Some place charge much as $3.50 for per taco however Ricos Tacos Lupe only charges $1.50. SAVE YOUR MONEY go to a place that is good!
STREET TACOS ARE OUTSTANDING!. Enjoyed 5 Street tacos this afternoon after hearing about Ricos Tacos Lupe from a friend and I was very happy! The food was outstanding, the service was friendly, and the prices were low! My only regret is that I'll now be spending A LOT of gas driving from Olathe to Ricos on a VERY regular basis!
Yum!. Great food! Great prices! Great service! Went on dollar taco Tuesday and cannot wait to return for their other days that have specials! They provide tasty salsas also! Also returned (per my boyfriend's request) for burrito Thursday. Very large burritos for $2, similar looking to a Chipotle burrito. Very good! The food just seems to be such a good quality. They offer a wide array of meats and the servers are nothing short of friendly and helpful!
My mouth is watering just thinking about Rico's. Super yummy! Between husband and myself we had street tacos, sope, enchilada, rice, beans, and pineapple Jarrito's. No complaints-it's all good, I mean, it's all GREAT!
So good!. The carne asada street tacos are delicious! The red sauce takes them to a whole new level. I got 4 for lunch and can't wait to go back for more! At $1.50 a piece, they're a good deal, and on Tuesdays, the $1 price is even better. I know they have $2 burritos on Thursday and I can't wait to try those either. I highly recommend this Ricos!
Let's get one thing very clear: I love tacos. Above all, I love tacos al pastor. When marinated pork, cilantro, and onions come together and perform a festive dance on a stage of soft corn tortillas, I can't help but get a little excited. That said, one can understand the stress I've put on my soul as a native Texan searching for the perfect taco in a sea of tasteless, Midwestern style, "Mexican food". (I'm looking at you ponaks.") Then along comes Ricos Tacos Lupe with it's lifejacket of deliciousness. What makes Ricos Tacos Lupe so special you ask. Is it their low low prices? Is it the icy cold Mexican coke that's some how more bubbely than amurican coke? Is it the perfectly seasoned pork, or wide selection of other delecious meats I can gently nestle in my corn tortillas? We'll yes, But more than that is the sauce. Jalipeño créma is a staple of any deserving taco hut and Ricos Tacos Lupe doesn't fail to deliver on that front. However, it's the red cream standing proud in a mysterious unmarked bottle, that's the true hero. Strong hints of garlic rubbing elbows with limes and chilis and all manner of tasty create a sauce, that I am not embarassed to say, was so good I didn't think twice about licking my phone when a few spare drops jumped taco ship. Ricos Tacos Lupe rescued me from taco depression they can help you too.
Wednesday morning before we start our route for work... we get a breakfast burrito from the food truck park outside their restaurant. I usually get the steak burrito cause its so amazing and a great way to start my day. If your in the area its worth stopping by. Her tamales are some of the best in town. 🧡 this place
If you are looking for street tacos... this is the place to go. I have been going here for years, and they deliver downtown, which was a hit for me when I used to work down there. Today, I tried the tamales... hands down the best tamales I have ever had.
The Tuesday taco deal is absolutely amazing!! 😍 $1.50 each, I had 7 😂 I literally tried almost one of each!!
I love supporting local small businesses. And it’s even easier to recommend when their food is delicious! Highly recommend coming on Tuesday for discounted tacos! I loved the crane asada and beef cheeks. The pastor was yummy, but the pork was drier than the beef. Complimentary chips and salsa made for a wonderful experience with their fast and direct customer service.
Authentic, hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Chicken tacos and chicken tamales were amazingly delicious. Finally I have a go-to taco place in KC. The hot and mild salsa were 🔥 🔥 🔥.
I just hope they are more flexible with the hours.
Wow wow wow. These were the best tacos I have ever had. I tried the pastor, chorizo, and vegetarian tacos - all were so good. My husband and I also got tortas (their special on Friday is $6 chicken tortas and $5 other tortas). I will be back again, and again, and again!
Their food is world class. I absolutely love this restaurant. Additionally, Rico’s Taco Lupe is home to the tiniest bathroom on Earth. Such a relaxing, unique restaurant.
Amazing and authentic tacos. GREAT prices. Wonderful selection of salsas, you will easily be able to find a salsa you LOVE. They also offer salsa to go in 8 oz containers. This place has imported Mexican Coca-Cola in 1 Liter glass bottles, which was delicious! The queso is very creamy and has great flavor.
This place is an unassuming Mexican restaurant off of Southwest Blvd next to El Fonda el Taquito. See the pic so you know what it looks like! They have a great Taco Tuesday and Burrito Thursday. Parking is slim and you have to find a place on the street, don’t park behind La Fonda or they will kick you out. The burritos are delicious and for only $2 on Thursdays, they are the best deal in town, and they’re large burritos too! They do have vegan options and the staff are friendly. And Monday nights are Taco Monday’s. If you eat at least 10 tacos you get a shirt and your name listed in their book of everyone else who has! update: tried the rice and it is delicious! (See pic)
I was very surprised that KC, Missouri has authentic Mexican restaurants. The tacos & salsas were good. I also loved the paintings & Mexican themed items the restaurant sells
