I came by to eat right after Friday prayer. A busy time. I ordered a shawarma sandwich. Food arrived quickly.
The sandwich was overloaded with meat, along with a healthy amount of fixings. I thought it could be a little spicier, fortunately there was some chili sauce on the table.
Straightforward and hospitable service.

The Hummus was heavenly & the freshly baked bread was soft, tasty & tender. One of the best pita bread i have ever had. The olive oil that was on top of the pita bread had flavor - mildy peppery. Family run amazing place. 👍🏽👍🏽

Their food is really good compared to the fancy Mediterranean restaurant we've been to.. it's worth eating here again.

I'm writing this review as I eat a meal from here for the very first time - it's sooooooo good I had to review right away!!! I don't think I'll be able to have Mediterranean food anywhere else without comparing it to this. Huge portions for very reasonable prices. Staff is not overly friendly but they are polite.

Classic gyro in a gas station vibes. Their spices were affordable, place is clean, employees courteous, and the food was perfect for the atmosphere. Two large sandwiches with fries for $20 or so. Will eat again!

Wonderful, super authentic, all you can eat halal food! I loved being able to build my own gyro and falafel sandwich with a large variety of salads and sauces. All of the side meats and vegetables were also spiced very well and were delicious. One of my favorite places near Kansas City.

Delicious Gyros (Best in KC Area). Friendly Staff. Free Parking. Great Prices. Large Selection of Ethnic Food & Products. Fresh Pita Bread (Delicious & Cheap)

We visit this business frequently. Their chicken and hummus, as well as, gyro and hummus is great! It's always fresh and hot and they include pita with it.
I took away one star because of the treatment from the business. They're very short and curt with you when placing an order and after you complete your order they just hang up the phone. No recap of the order, rarely are you given how long it will take before you pick up the order and hardly ever do they thank you for your business.
Perhaps it's a cultural difference but I really wish they would work to improve the customer service experience. The food is excellent - customer service not so much.

Service was great. The food was good. The rice needed some kind of spice to it. The supermarket was great to look at while my food was being prepared. Will be going back.

Good lunch option, all you can eat buffet. Good meat selection from chicken, pork, goat. Fresh Mediterranean food. After renovation cafe looks much better, also they added 2 new rooms.

Excellent food and incredible market!

Just may be my favorite restaurant in KC. At this spot you can get the BEST quality food. I am vegetarian so I don’t get a ton of options most places, but Olive Cafe knocks it out of the park! I could eat their hummus, baba ghanoush, and falafel every day of the week and be happy. It is a dual restaurant/grocery store. I buy a lot of my tea here and they have a million great items that you either won’t find or will be 2x the price at local grocery. Come for the food, grocery prices, and incredible people that run this place! Definitely spend some time to look around the grocery area since the selection is great.

A hidden gem! The food is great and I love shopping for different products from different countries.

Hidden gem! Had the falafel combo. It was excellent. The stuffed grape leaves were outstanding. Hummus was creamy and the pita was very fresh. They have a nice little grocery store with a good selection of Middle eastern items. Prices were excellent. Highly recommend! I will be back.

Service was quick. Portions are generous almost enough for 2 people. Hummus is average felt was prepared long time ago almost was sour. Bread were fresh as they prepare it onsite and well known for it. Chicken breast pieces were soft n juicy and had decent flavor.

Good Mediterranean food!. They currently stopped doing the buffet on the weekends, so keep that in mind. Had the combo kabob platter which was pretty good. Chicken was a tad dry, beef was good, the beef kifta was tasty, and I like their rice. Lentil soup is always good. I've been there quite a few times and like their gyros and gyro meat a lot. Perhaps not the friendliest atmosphere, but the food is always good.

If you want an inexpensive, tasty lunch buffet with a decent selection this is the place to go. It has been a favorite of mine and my wife's for a while now.

Went to Olive Cafe today with colleagues and we tried their lunch buffet. There were many meat and vegetarian choices in the buffet. The food was delicious, especially the falafel. For $8.99, it's definitely worth it.

Great Hummus and middle eastern market.. We just finished dinner and truly enjoyed the hummus, shawerma and Greek salad. You order at the counter from pictures on the wall and then are served in a small seating area. The resturant is within a Mediterranean grocery market which is kind of nice as you can browse the market as your food is being prepared. The hummus is fresh each day, the meat is seasoned just right and the food overall well prepared. We will definitely eat here again.

Good Stuff!. This food ranks as some of better Middle Eastern food I have had in general, all over the US. Hummus is awesome and it also appears they make their own pita. Falafel was a little heavy with a certain spice I couldn't place, but Chicken Shwarma was good and the Baklava, had I caught it a little fresher would have been even better than it was- delicious. Not to mention, the owner seems like a nice guy. Well worth the stop if you like this type of food.

Had the gyro, lentil soup, tamerond soda. All was real good. Bought some special grocery. Great place want to try shawarma(sp)

Great flavor. Food is good every time.

Great Mediterranean Food. I manage to eat here a few time a month and never disappoints. The Falafel is the best I've had so far in KC. The Gyro sandwiches are tasty and filling; to make them, they cut a pita in half and give you both halves filled with meat, grilled onions and green peppers. The Gyro Platter is also very good; a plate of rice covered with grilled gyro meat, onions and green peppers, with a very good soup. The Kifta is a tasty spiced ground beef kabab. The only disappointment I've had is the Beef Shawarma; I found the beef a bit on the tough side. Give the place a try!

This Place Rocks!!!. I have eaten here several times! The Gyro Salad is amazing! Wonderful hummus and falafel as well! Very generous portions. I always buy the cheesy flatbread, and some olives and feta cheese. I come early, otherwise the neighborhood comes in, and snatches up all the bread. These guys can BAKE!!! The diningroom is very comfortable, the staff is great!!! Try it, you will like it!!!

Excellent food and groceries. We stumbled across this place by accident when going to another store near by. We were in the area visiting a friend who is in the hospital, so we are not from KC; also we RARELY go out to eat (once a year or less?) since we live as simply as we can and do not have much money.

My daughter and I shared a gyro; it was very delicious ... but I must say I expected it to have a little spicy kick to it. Even still, it was delicious. Also, we are not big meat eaters, but the meat was very tasty and tender. It almost filled the both of us up (once again, we shared one gyro ... it was packed with meat and veggies) and was just about $5.

Someone here mentioned the atmosphere was not too good so they suggested take-out. I guess it's a matter of taste because I really appreciated it and was comfortable there. Nothing fancy; just the way I like it.

I was also able to cut out my trip to Whole Foods; I purchased a nice size jug of olive oil in the grocery section and it was cheaper than what I get it for at Whole Foods (looks like good stuff too).

I almost forgot to mention the nice people (the owner and a worker). Very friendly.

If we are ever in the area again, we will go back.

www.fewtherebethatfindit.blogspot.com

Once you are back at the office, though, you’ll be quick to add Olive Café to the sweet spot on your workday-lunch-challenge Venn diagram.

First of all, I really have to thank phome for bringing this place to my attention in the comments of a previous post . I think it's fair to say that I would never have discovered it on my own. Olive Cafe is located in Southeast Kansas City, just east of
