Pretty awesome place. Very laid back. Our server was patient and awesome. Bar staff, not quite as much but I guess we only saw them in passing anyway.
They have vegetarian options and a few dishes that are their specialty.
It wasn't loud and a good spot for chatting while eating.

Highly recommend! This place is in the regular rotation for my family. Staff is always friendly and the food quality is consistent! Their pork chops are one of my favorites and their spicy cheese bites are popular with the family as well. The kiddo (and me) love their pepperoni pizza as well. Honestly, I've never had a bad meal at this place as they seem to know what they're doing. They have outside dining available when the weather is pleasant and the parking is plentiful. Give this place a try!

Our first dinner at Governor Stumpy’s did not disappoint. First off, I think we were greeted by at least 4 employees. They were all so friendly. Our waiter went through the entire menu and gave us his recommendations; which was very helpful. I ordered the St. Louis style cheese pizza. The pizza was good, but not exactly what I thought it would be. It did have the cracker thin crust, but I was expecting Provel cheese and square cuts. The salad was solid. I’m looking forward to going back and trying other options - the Waldo cheese fries are the top of my list! As we left, I think at least 3 employees said bye and thanked us for stopping in. The customer service is exceptional.

You have to visit!!! Food was grea, it was very tasty, my husband had a bacon cheeseburger, I had quiche and soup. Thre girls had mac and cheese and the other one had a cheeseburger. Good prices and the staff was really friendly! We will be back when we come back to this area!! :) oh I almost forgot... you HAVE to try the walnut brownie!!!

I go here all the time. It's a great place to grab a meal. The staff is extremely friendly and fast at their jobs. If something needs to be fixed like a wrong order/item etc. the staff/owner is on it to make it right.

A local favorite. Solid food, good service, cold beers. A welcoming greeting is given freely upon wntey. Ownership is present and it shows. This place doesn't need a review on Google, just ask anyone in the neighborhood and they will recommend it. You always feel like a regular.

I went there with a buddy that lives nearby to this place for a couple of beers and a late Dinner. I had the Fish & Chips and it was very good. The Chips were seasoned fries that were really good and I chose the Cold Slaw that I thought was very good too! It's the kind of place that most everyone in there knew each other too, which made for some really friendly folks. The staff was very friendly as well!

First and Foremost, the atmosphere was excellent. The waitstaff was tentative but not overbearing. Not being from KC I wasn't familiar with the beer selection and the amazing waitress was patient enough to help me select one. The restaurant area was calm, well lit and easy to navigate. The menu was simple, but had plenty of selection. During the course of our meal we couldn't help but rant and rave over what an amazing local eat this place was. I had the KC Cut, a steak, that was probably one of the best meals I had had in a long time. After several not so pleasant dining experiences this past week, our expectations were blown out of the water by this place. Everything from start to finish was hands-down one of the best times I have had eating out. Kevin, the owner, was even kind enough to come over and introduce himself, tell us a bit of history and welcome us to KC. He then went on to ask us about ourselves and bring a personal touch to the expedience. When he found out we were both in Law Enforcement he was beyond ecstatic to thank us for our service and we loved the fact he was openly "Blue Strong". This will always be a stop for us when we pass through KC from here on!.

This must be new ownership, sucks. I’ve lived within walking distance of this place since 2002 but when I took a friend there the other night, I ordered the fish and chips thinkin it would be a $7/$8 meal. No, ‘twas $13, and it was small, but worst of all; the fish was so dried out it was inedible. They would not replace it, they would not refund my money, and I left this plate of shit uneaten and my $13.00 Obviously no tip! After 15 years of goin there, I will never, ever, step foot in this place again!!!

The food is always perfectly seasoned and delicious. The fact that it is seasoned is a plus since many restaurants don't seem to bother.

I had the pesto chicken pasta and it was delicious. Beware, there are little walnuts pieces in it, so if you have any allergies to nuts be careful. The pasta dish was also served with two pieces of garlic bread. It was very good. The server was attentive but not overbearing and I enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. Oh, one more bit of information, especially for the ladies, they have one of the nicest restrooms I’ve ever been in in a restaurant.

Everybody was super friendly... But as far as food goes, if you're looking for very bland food, this is your place. Pork chops were dry/no seasoning. Pizza had no flavor. Nothing was bad, per say... Just nothing memorable

Great secret. The best staff in the city, ssshh! It's a secret. Stumpy's might as well be community center for Waldo, Brookside area. Good selection of well prepared food. Several dishes worthy of remembering for future cravings- rattlesnake pasta for fire-branded heat and grilled chicken, well prepared top sirloin, spicy chicken stir fry over rice; not the mention several diet-busting desserts. Family friendly dining room, neighborhood hub bar, shaded porch for nice nights dining outside and central residential location all make for a quiet little secret dinner spot. Great for out of town guests or un-fussy family restaurant night. Much like the neighborhood, classy and understated.

We really loved everything about this place. From the friendly greeting, to the NCAA tournament on the television, to the great food, this place has it all.<br/>I had the Cobb salad. It was as beautiful as it was delicious. We started off with the cheese fries which were seasoned perfectly. If I lived in this neighborhood, I can see myself hanging out here all the time. Kinda like Cheers where everybody knows your name. Definitely will be back.

The BEST PLACE EVER. I work over by this place and try to eat here about once a week. My waistline just can't handle it some weeks. Anything and everything I have tried has been amazing. The cheeseburger or the pizza. They are the best. They are extremely friendly and they are speedy. Usually packed over the lunch hour, just so you know. I am not a big drinker but I am sure they have great alcoholic drinks as well. Oh yea, their desserts are fab too. I just can't say enought good things about this place. Just try it!

My husband and I went out for a date night and stumbled upon this amazing restaurant! The bartender was fast and friendly. All the staff we encountered was extremely warm and welcoming! I had the fish and chips. For dessert the chocolate thunder cake. I am one that never finishes my food and I ate all the food that was served! We will absolutely returning soon with our kids!!

Who doesn't love the Gov!?. If you don't like Stumpy's you have a problem. It isn't even just about the food, which is pretty good. It has the nicest owner and staff around. Everyone knows each other and you are always treated well. It is a great neighborhood restaurant!

Reuben sandwich tester. They claim to be reuben servers...yet of 5 reuben's ordered there..only 2 are delicious real deal corned beef...the other three are dry - like 'out of the package slices' of over heated-to-tough, thin slices of jerkey!<br/><br/>How can one know which day to get "THE real deal reuben"? Do you guys run out of corned beef some times? Or is it the different cooks? What or HOW can I learn to come on the days when you do serve a melt in your mouth "best reuben in town?" I would just as soon order something else or eat at McDonald's on the other days that you have given me the NOTHING reuben imitation. Please reveal your days for the greatest sandwich on earth ...and spare me the pain of your toughest jerky imitation.

I'd probably rather go to Sharp's but it's a good place. Foodwise it's Sharp's over Stumpy's but it's a nice gathering place, great place to visit with friends, meet for a casual dinner. I've never been overly impressed with the food but it's good and atmosphere is sometimes 60% important. I'll go out on a limb here and say it's the middle aged place to hang as opposed to The Well.

Easy Choice. A great neighborhood place that is perfect for a drop-in when you don't feel like cooking or you just want a good burger. The menu offers a lot of sandwiches and burgers, but also hearty dinners, pizza, pasta and more. Attentive service and tasty food make it a solid choice any time.
