Met with friends on Friday for dinner to celebrate Bastille Day and it was wonderful! Had so much fun in the cabaret-style setting with songs and entertainment from the servers. And the FOOD!!! Great menu with so many delicious choices. I started with the chilled vichyssoise. It was silky and delicious. I could easily have eaten another portion, it was that perfect. My next course was the lobster salad, another refreshing treat. And then the entree arrived. I have always been fond of sweetbreads and was happy to see them on the menu. This delicate dish was perfectly executed, and throughly enjoyed. I could have licked the plate. I should have. I was too full for dessert, but I did enjoy a chocolate truffle which was the perfect bite of sweetness to end a fabulous dinner. And lest I forget, the service was impeccable. Order and sip a French Pirate cocktail. You'll be glad you did.

We have eaten here several times and the menu never ceases to be amazing (we almost exclusively order from the rotating specials- seafood, lamb, duck, steak- it's all fantastic) and the staff is just incredible! If you are looking for a special meal or date night gem- this is the place! Outstanding food and service to match...can't recommend it enough!

I’m one of those people who likes to carefully examine menus online and pick out what I plan to order when I get to a restaurant. And every time I do that with Le Fou Frog, I find myself lured away by one of the specials on the chalkboard. As all the food here is expertly prepared and thoroughly delicious, deviating from my plans has never been a mistake. They do a particularly good job with seafood. On my most recent visit I had scallops and gnocchi that were excellent. The drinks here are also quite good. I admit I’m not completely crazy about the quirky French cafe atmosphere. But I recognize that’s a matter of personal taste, and I’m sure a lot of their customers really love it. And the lighting makes it hard to get good photos of the food, as you can tell from the pictures accompanying this review. But that’s completely beside the point when the food is this good.

First visit, but not our last! It's quaint & relaxing. The servers are very welcoming and professional in an easy-going way. Best of all... the FOOD IS AMAZING! We had the smoked duck salad with raspberry vinaigrette and smoked trout with toast points for appetizers. Entrees were rosemary seasoned lamb chops with polenta and seasonal vegetables, as well as tiger shrimp with a (to die for) champagne vanilla sauce and risotto. Don't forget to try the desserts. All dishes were prepared to perfection and just simply scrumptious!

In the dark rouge colored dining room, you are surrounded by an eclectic ambiance that is both romantic and whimsical at once – a dichotomy of sensations fit for date night. The entrance is endearing, unpretentious, and inviting. We arrived early and had cocktails by the bar, enjoying some recommendations from the owner and learning more about the city’s attractions. When we were sat at our table, one is instantly cradled into the experience that is Le Fou Frog. We were presented with a menu that had enumerable amounts of food – my only regret being that I had but one stomach to fill. The specials were presented via chalk board, our eyes fixated on a couple of the recommended dishes. I will, to the best of my ability, try to describe this union of nirvana and culinary ecstasy; however, I know my words will not do it justice. Escargot: Glistening in the porcelain tarn, the snail shells bathed in a rich, buttery concoction. The pungent aroma of garlic, herbs, and butter wafted around the table enticing every sense of the human body. We made quick work of the dish, using our freshly baked bread to collect as much of the remaining sauce from the tarn as was possible. To describe this as catastrophically delicious is an understatement, it is life changing. Duck Confit: Duck is such a funny beast to cook, it is tricky with its fat and meat. The fattiness is both its strength and weakness; however, with careful handling and gifted hands it is to be placed among the highest realms of culinary mastery. The dish was absolutely insatiable, every crispy bite is a holy union of flavors and the fat – exquisite doesn’t come close to describing the dish. I highly recommend it, it will not disappoint CAILLE FARCI (Quail Stuffed with Foie Gras and Brioche): I remember having this years ago, it was as mesmerizing then as it was this evening. The quails, 2 total, were perfectly cooked and deboned, save the legs. The inside of the birds were filled with foie gras and brioche – perhaps the richest, most flavorful substance that has ever passed the barrier of my teeth into my stomach. Each bite was riveting, like listening to your favorite song – it never grows old. The dish was served on buttery mash potatoes, topped with perigourdine sauce. There is a hint of truffle and wine in the sauce, a true symphony of flavor. This is both a nostalgic dish for me, being the first one I tried here, but also an all time favorite. All in all, this is probably one of my all time favorite restaurants and I can’t wait to return. I would describe eating here as – utterly exquisite.

Incredible experience! The ambiance was perfect for an intimate dinner. The staff all work as a team- they excel at ensuring every guest has the right amount of attention needed. We even got to hear a performance from a talented server! The menu is well-developed and explained in detail. We couldn't be more pleased with our first experience and look forward to coming again when we are back in town. Thank you for taking this industry seriously with passion and attention to the small details!

A unique, romantic dining experience in one of K.C.'s oldest restaurants. It never disappoints. The menu is not typical, with a variety of offers not seen with other high-end restaurants. It's pricey but definitely something special. The chocolate martini is outstanding! A dining delight!

First of all, I enjoy French food. I was told that I was missing a local restaurant gem called La Fou Frog. I made reservations for myself and was seated at the bar table, which was perfect. It felt like I was in Paris, observing people. I had the chance to meet one of the owners, Barbara, and enjoyed conversing with her. I asked Barbara to surprise me with her favorite dessert, and she delighted me with creme brulee and Nie port. It was amazing! I loved the ambiance of the restaurant, the service was spectacular, and the food was breathtaking!

We had a perfect meal for our honeymoon here. It was worth every dollar and our server, Ava, was incredibly friendly and sweet. She was knowledgeable and helped us pick between options when we got stuck. Everything we got was rich with flavors and perfectly seasoned. The entire restaurant was decorated for the holiday season, and the walls were covered in photos. We will be going back!

Bread was soft inside with a crunchy outside, salad had a citrus dijon vinaigrette, escargot was delicious baked in tomato garlic and herbs, bay scallops baked with leeks, mushrooms and guyere cheese was very good, stuffed boneless quail were tender and juicy served on a bed of mashed potatoes with a chicken reduction sauce, the entree had such a savory flavor it was amazing, then for dessert a pumpkin mousse that was so light served in a puff pastry that definitely had a wow factor.
