I wanted a combination of seafood & Caribbean since we all wanted something different so I came across this restaurant after doing a Google search. The owner was pleasant the entire time & made sure to ask me again exactly what/how I wanted my sides which were the beans w/ rice & cabbage. When the food came out everything looked, smelled, & tasted delicious so we all were very pleased w/ our choice & plan on visiting again.
I can appreciate cook to order food! Not typical in a JA restaurant so I fully appreciated it when I received fresh, hot food! Flavors on point and the snapper and shrimp were fresh. The patties are delicious! I will be eating here every time I visit Jacksonville. Chef Irie is a delight. He’s friendly and can cook!!! The dining room is basic but CLEAN so that’s all that matters in my opinion.
Delicious good. Our party of 9 enjoyed every bite! Tried the plantain appetizer - so yummy! As well as the corn tots!
Jerk chicken with cabbage and rice was perfect! We loved the ginger drinks!
If you are looking for authentic, home cooked style Jamaican food, you are in the right place. Not only do the beef patties melt in your mouth, but the curry goat and jerk chicken are mout watering. The refreshing cabbage on the side and mountain of rice and beans put it all together into one really tasty mouth full. The owner himself is so hospitable and kind. 100% a place you want to grab a bite from.
Looking around for Jamaican / Caribbean restaurants open after 7. I came across Mad O, and I’m so glad my father and I stopped here. The jerk chicken was an easy 9.5/10 , the plantains were amazing, the jerk sauce is to die for, and the coco bread was FRESH at 7:30pm (that’s unheard of in Maryland , where we are from). Over all experience was phenomenal and we will be back for sure.
The food was absolutely delicious! We just moved to the area and came across this restaurant but doing a Google search of places to eat near by. The staff is very friendly and the wait time is very minimal. They have definitely gained new customers in myself and my boyfriend. I recommend you try this place the menu is almost never ending lol you're sure to find something there you'll enjoy.
Oxtail dinner with cabbage and rice and peas, was to die for. The cabbage ALONE made me want to hug the cook. The plantains were perfectly done and the beef patty was incredible. Plenty of food for 2 people but I refused to share.
The service was impeccable, I wish I would’ve gotten the woman’s name running the front, she was an absolute sweetheart.
I’ll be back for some goat next time. 🖤
The food was delicious, I had the backend shrimp, the vegetables were fresh and the rice and beans were really good! Skip the fries, they are from a frozen bag, go with the plantains. It is summer, the AC wasn't quite up to par. Get takeout. The owner family is nice and the experience is authentic!
We visited Mad O Seafood for the first time last night. Our daughter picked it for her last meal in Jax before heading off to college. What a great experience! The food is fantastic, especially the Bob Marley chicken. The staff were so hospitable and kind, and especially helpful to me with my gluten allergy choices. At the end of our meal Chef Irie personally walked out to say hello and treated our table to an order of their beignets to celebrate our daughter’s send-off to college. We will definitely be back and looking forward to exploring the whole menu, and their lunch specials!
Real authentic Jamaican, jerk chicken was cooked perfectly and wasn’t over salted like some places. The person complaining about a 15 minute wait needs to go to McDonalds. This isn’t fast food it’s fresh food
