I love Whits in Avondale. They’re so dog friendly and I e never tried a flavor of the day that I didn’t like ! Staff is always friendly and courteous

Awesome place for frozen custard and better than the "other" chain ice cream spots! It has a classic old school brand but modern and trendy vibe that will attract customers of all ages. Their custard is made fresh and has a much creamier and sweeter taste than regular vanilla soft serve. They will add in and mix the toppings to make each option perfect in every bite. The lines move quick and they also offer samples of their featured flavor(s). I had the turtle whitzer and it was very good.
What a find, best ice cream treat EVER. It’s frozen custard not ice cream. Had the flavor of the day which was chocolate syrup, peanut butter and nut and then added the sea turtle add on. DELICIOUS
🍌 My favorite stop in Avondale. Although ice cream is my biggest weakness, my ritual here is the frozen bananas on a stick, chocolate covered with peanuts for me 🥜 Still $3 after 20 plus years of coming here!
My husband and I moved to Jacksonville in early 2023. We heard about Whit's Frozen Custard of Avondale and thought we'd give it a try. Whoa! What a fabulous treat! Our only problem? We want to eat there every day.
Nice location. There's a few tables to sit outside and that's what we chose to do because inside smelled like cleaning products. It was a bit overwhelming for me but atleast I know they were clean. Lol I thought there would be a sweet smell of waffle cones when I walked in but I'm pretty sure they don't make those in house. I got the turtle and it it did have tons of yummy caramel on the bottom of the bowl. They weren't stingy with the pecans either. I was just expecting more from the frozen custard itself. Maybe a bit more vanilla flavoring would've done the trick. Overall, it was tasty. So, try it out.

This place was so yummy! You pick a base flavor (vanilla, chocolate or the flavor of the day) and can add toppings right on top or to be blended in. The flavor of the day when I went was Red Velvet Cake and it was so good! The custard is so creamy and there were cream cheese chunks and bits of cake. I already can't wait to go back! They also sell pints and quarts of other flavors.
I stopped by to get a quick dessert and got the s'mores custard and it was just what I needed. Great place for dessert.

Always a good experience at Whit's. The staff are patient and offer you to try any of their flavors. The frozen custard is outstanding, very creamy! I go for the root beer floats. They're made with IBC root beer, mixed up in the milkshake mixer. At first I thought that would make for a terrible float, being mixed together, but it's great! You get the rest of the bottle of root beer to enjoy a long with it as well.
