Just got back from here. Party of 13, celebrating Seth's birthday. Wow, we had a wonderful time. Server was super and always checking to see if we needed anything. Our Chef was out of this world. He was funny, kept us laughing. The food was awesome. Loved watching him cooking the food. This was our first time visit and can't wait to go back. I thank all the wonderful people at this Sakura for making our birthday celebration so perfect Feb. 6,2016.

Still going strong. Let's be honest, there has been an obnoxious influx of "japanese" restaurants all over Jax. If I see one more fast sushi joint open up in a strip mall I think I'm going to lose it. Something about Sakura has always been different though, maybe because it feels more personable inside. If you're a regular the owners actually get to know you. That's not typical in local asian restaurants where you're usually greeted by a grimacing asian lady who never even looks up at you while she takes your money. Or maybe it's that they have very nice garden and pond. which you definitely don't see anywhere else - I'm guessing because the cost of maintaining one is probably a pretty penny. Or maybe it's because their sauces don't taste like they came from a shoddy, cost-cutting, factory pouch from China and squirted onto a plate. Sakura is by far the best hibachi and sushi restaurant in town, and it's these little details that make them stand out from the clones upon clones of hibachi and fast sushi restaurants everywhere. The building is a little worn and could use some work but the food by far makes up for that.
A Great Date Place. This is a near-typical Japanese hibachi restaurant, but they are reasonably-priced, and consistent with their food. The entertainment varies by chef and his mood, but it is worth the trip.
I recommend Sakura for date night, other special occasions, and for the night where you don't feel like cooking, and want to have a fun night out with the family.
Best place ever. I love this restaurant! The quality and portions are always far above its competitors. I've been enjoying the beautiful atmosphere and food since its opening. They have a beautiful garden and coy pond outside and my family and I always look forward to touring it. Overall I'd say this place is a MUST.

Solid standby. Very tasty and yummy. They have the best ginger salad dressing and shrimp sauce, love their fried rice. The server was missing in action for a bit as far as refills and such but overall the food and chef were really good. will return.
Fantastic. Recently moved to Jacksonville from Atlanta and was worried about finding sushi as good as I had at my favorite place there. I looked on urban spoon to get ideas and found Sakura, and glad I did. It was REALLY good. I had the Dragon Roll and Paul suggested one call the Crunch Roll and they were delicious!!! So glad I found this place!!!!! I will be a regular.
I give them 5 stars. I drive from Palatka to Jax just to eat here. It is FANTASTIC. The Dragon Roll is to die for. The wife loves the dinners, evry one else loves the sushi rolls. Waitresses are good, Paul and Benny are fantastic to chat with while they make your sushi. Very friendly, very good place.

Food was good, server was very attentive and chef was great. Overall nice clean spot with one exception. Please clean you exhaust fans over the grills. The one above our table was literally dripping grease. See the photo. The grease warmed up when the chef was cooking and was dripping down.
My family and I had the best time here! We came to celebrate after an awards ceremony and the ending of our night was fantastic! Food was amazing! The staff was even better. Our Chef was so entertaining and interactive, he really made the experience so much more special! The smile on my children's faces... Priceless! Thank you!
They serve absolutely the BEST sushi in Jacksonville. We have been coming here for years. We have been to many other Japanese restaurants in Jacksonville, and NONE of them can beat Sakura on San Jose blvd.
Very nice Hibachi spot. Tables aren't over packed as others in the same setting. The experience was great as far as the cook down to the server. Didn't have to find him for a refill of beverages and he stayed on top of coming to check if we needed anything. The appetizers came out quicker than expected because we visited around 6pm and it was a nice crowd. Usually you have a problem with portions at Hibachi restaurants but not here we all took home to go plates. I would recommend this establishment to anyone visiting the Jacksonville area. The Koi pond was awesome!

Really great experience!
We went for my mother's birthday this last Sunday and she wanted to have the whole entire Hibachi experience, so that is what was booked.
I would reccomened booking the hibachi experience as you would with BeniHanna. We went on a Sunday afternoon so it was not very packed with a lot of people.
They do have disability parking , but generally the main parking is not that huge. I used my cane that day. There are backs on the seats, and fhe seats are not very high, so that really did help.
It was about a 5 minute wait. We were seated at the grill. If your party is a smaller group you may end up having an experience with others btw (which may or may not be somebody's thing).
We started off with clear soup.
The menu was easy to understand . I chose the shrimp with fried rice . I also ordered a Philadelphia roll (sushi). It was fun to watch the food get cooked and our chef was pretty cool.
Noodles were complementary to our meal.
It was pretty good food! Overall the hibachi experience is the normal one you would expect, onion volcano , try catching food in your mouth, etc .
Always a fun time, good food, large portions, very family friendly, and works well with big groups. One of the chefs even let a little girl help prepare the food at of the neighboring tables for her birthday
Instead of going to a packed house, we took a chance on the Mandarin staple. We were very pleased. The food was excellent, albeit less portions than other plaes, but also was not as expensive either. Our entertainment was average, normal, run of the mill fare. Nothing new here. The location is easy to get into and out of and the tables hold 8 rather than 12 or 13 making your experience a little more quaint, closer to other tables and louder. Overall, a very pleasant experience that we will return to.

Definitely a good go to Hibachi place in Jacksonville. Right off San Jose next to an ABC and Flower shop the five of us had 5:30pm reservations. We all arrived and were seated with our drink orders taken while we awaited three additional guests to arrive to fill the table. As you know your food is cooked in front of you and a really good chef puts on a good show which our guy did. I ordered Meso Soup, Salad with Ginger Dressing, Fried Rice, Noodles, vegetables, shrimp and scallops. Bill got the same except steak rare with shrimp... outstanding and 5 ⭐. Other guests ordered chicken, lobster etc and again fantastic 5 star. There is so much food that all of us took to-go bags home. The Coy Pond outside is a delight so please make sure you bring quarters for the fish food. Again, not a single negative and can assure you we will return. I also suggest making reservations as we did on Father's day.
